How to Deactivate Alarm Without Fob or Key
Hi,
My son has a 2008 Honda Civic SI. We need to replace the battery (again) & I recall that the alarm goes off like a son of a b'yatch when the battery is replaced. He has no key fob and you cannot lock/unlock the driver door with a key as it is too badly damaged - he has to lock/unlock the car from the passenger side. Does pulling the stop/horn fuse work to deactivate the alarm until he can start the car back up post new battery install? Trying to avoid having the neighbors vote me off the island due to a horn that won't stop.
Thank you!

Unhook battery, unlock passenger door. Put key into ignition and turn to the on position. Hook battery up. Alarm should not go off as it takes this as a authorized power connection with the key in the ignition in the on position.

Re: How to Deactivate Alarm Without Fob or Key
His key FOB does not work, and recently the driver side door lock does not open with the key. So he’s been leaving it unlocked, but accidentally locked it yesterday. We were able to get it unlocked, but that set off the alarm and we haven’t figured out how to disable it. After not having success following the advice here, we pulled the fuse for the horn. But the anti-theft system won’t let it come out of Park. Obviously, he needs to get the FOB and lock addressed, but at the moment he cannot even get it to a shop. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I'm wondering if you ever got this issue fixed. I'm having similar issues with my 08 civic dx.

"The security system helps to protect
your vehicle and valuables from theft.
The horn sounds and a combination
of headlights, parking lights, side
marker lights, and taillights flashes if
someone attempts to break into your
vehicle or remove the radio. This
alarm continues for 2 minutes, then
the system resets. To reset an
alarming system before the 2
minutes have elapsed, unlock the
driver’s door with the key or the
remote transmitter."

Re: How to Deactivate Alarm Without Fob or Key
We disconnected the horn so he could temporarily drive without the noise until he got a new remote. The housing of his old fob was broken but not the electronics within it which unlocked the door. He purchased a new key fob online and was able to able to swap the electronics of the old fob into the new fob housing to get something that worked.
