Icon2 Metal Gnashing Noise (Not at Idle)

Hi all,

I have an '05 V6 M6 and I'm planning on doing a whole timing belt kit change over Thanksgiving weekend and I think it would also be a perfect time to try and diagnose this other issue I've had for a while now. I would describe it as a metal gnashing noise (maybe a shield?) and it occurs when the engine is revved high (which is not too often) or when you accelerate in any gear below its recommended minimum speeds (recommended shift points). For instance, it's very repeatable/noticeable/loud when cruising at 40mph in 5th gear and accelerating. The noise will last until the engine gets further up the power band (stops around 45mph which is the recommended shift point between 4th and 5th). It's very hard to hear in the video because the car is parked (sounds worse on the road in situations as described above) but listen after I rev the engine when it starts to wind down. It sounds slightly distorted through the camera and less metallic than listening with your ears.

I would really appreciate any and all help. Thanks so much!
