2005 accord ignition won't turn
So one day the key won't turn to start. i managed to wiggle it around and start it to drive it to a local shop.
They said i needed to get honda to reprogram the ignition cylinder and keys. Then i went to honda but they said they don't do that. They said that i needed order 35100-SDA-A71 - Genuine Honda Lock Assy., Steering and have them install it.
so i did. Now can i just install this part and be good to go? or do i need to bring it the the dealership to reprogram and get charged $260 to install. I would be ok with using two separate keys. thanks for any help

Under normal conditions, the car's PCM/ECM (computer) needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer for the new key transponder chip due to the Immobilizer system. However, you can start the car with a new key if the original transponder chip is near the Immobilizer receiver at the steering column's ignition switch. You can also carefully remove the transponder chip from the old key fob and insert it into the new key fob.
