Need Help Car dies at random...
I need good experience from someone out there on this one.
Vehicle: 98 Honda Accord 4 cyl VTECH 130,000 miles Automatic
Symptoms: First thing in the morning car starts fine, but about 1 mile out it dies.
Then it cranks like normal for about 3-6 times before it starts. Then drives for
several miles before it dies again. Then it will drive fine for a while. Lately it has gotten worse and it may crank for about 10-15 minutes after driving it a while before starting again. When it is running it drives like normal until it dies of course.
Weird Thing: I had the hood up letting it idle while checking voltages at the battery and the alternator. 14.6 volts. All of the sudden it died and I just stood there for about 2 minutes thinking and then all the accesories came back on like the electric
fans and stuff. It was like it died because it lost battery power and then it came back and everything came back on, but then I figured it would start right up but it cranked about 6 times before it started again. Then it idled fine for several minutes.
I have replaced and checked several things already, but still haven't fixed it.
Things Done: Replaced Fuel Pump and strainer.
Replaced Main Relay under Steering Column.
Tightened Battery Connections.
Replaced Ignition Coil.
Replaced Ignition Module.
Checked Voltages at Battery & Alternator.
Something New: It has been getting hard to remove the key from the ignition. It goes in and turns fine, but it is hard to push in and turn back to remove. Related to problem I don't know. I tried wiggling the key while the car was running but it nevered caused it to die.
Please, if we can all put our heads together we can fix this car.

Sounds like you need to visit an auto electrition, if you have a resister breaking down somwhere, that can cause a syptom like you describe, IE. when a resister is cold current is continuious, as it gets hot it expands, and can cease the current flow,( dry joint).

Same exact problem with my friend's 92 the other day. Believe it or not his terminals looked tight enough but we just tightened them a bit more and problem gone. As crappy as this seems, like stated above just check all your grounds. Go around tightening down all the wires you can find and make sure nothing is loose.
