correlation between shifting & mileage
my car gets ~350 miles to a gallon when it's all highway, but only around ~250 when it's local. I shift around 2700 rpm each gear, i figure that'd be the most economical rpm range to shift right? But it's a little too low to make power at each gear.. what about you guys? any specific rpm to shift at would be more economical?

Re: correlation between shifting & mileage (SOHCkordVTEC)
hmm... well the money I can save on gas, can be used to purchase other desirable goods..
and it's not all about gas mileage... i was also wondering what's a good rpm range to shift would be best for the car.

why is economy a stressed issue?

I have and auto tranny, and put an igniton setup in. The results were about 22-30mpg extra in the city. I can only imagine it doing only better on a 5 speed.
