My vx, no idea what kind of mpg it gets. I think my hx faired a little better than the vx, that could be for a number of reasons though.

Damn. That's a clean VX. I like it.

I would assume it would get better than the HX since the EPA is better, but there is a lot of things that can change MPG.

Nice ride.

I figured you'd know a bunch about that stuff. The fuel filter was replaced about a year or two ago. The o2 sensor is BRAND NEW. The plugs/wires/cap and rotor are all the same **** that came with it from japan. I havent changed any of that, haa I havent even checked any of it

I dont know, but I did do a little bit of snow drifting the past couple days I like to take advantage of the open parking lots around here lol.

The only thing is that on this tank, I let the fuel level get a little lower than the other times before I re-fueled. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I would change out the cap/rotor/plugs/wires. I always noticed a big change in performance when replacing them in the Hondas I've owned. I would go with either OEM or NGK plug wires and plugs, they seem to last the longest and have the least problems.

GL on switching that stuff out, the rotor screw is usually a huge bitch, but sometimes actually does budge without breaking off the rotor.

im a huge gas mileage lover but unforunately that went out the door when i swapped my F22B1 and trans out in favor for a JDM H22A and M2A4 Trans. i still get around 350 miles to a tank but i sure as hell miss 400+ miles to a tank. i document my spending on gas and miles to tank every time i fill up, which is what i only do.

im gonna go on that gassavers.org, see if i can pick up some tips on my swapped DD.

It is a cool site with tons of good tips.

I've followed a few tips, and I've seen my MPG go up about 5mpg on average. With a few more mods, hopefully I'll get the MPG up a little more.

Sadly enough, I could only squeeze 25.23 mpg out of the DA this tank. I might just man-up and do a full tune up on the bitch

Yeah, sounds like it might be time for it.

You should get a decent bump in performance too.

yeah man, like I said, they are still the original plugs/wires from when I got the motor swap...

After all, I might be driving it for another couple months before the complete rebuild

What I don't understand is, when I take it easy, shift lower rpms and slower shifting and not getting on it at all, I get 24 mpg. But when I rev it up a little higer inbetween gears, and shift a little faster, and give it a little beating every now and then, I get about 25-26 mpg. I don't get why this is...???

That's strange... It could be the plugs don't want to fire too well unless they are nice and hot, or possibly your cat could be clogged if you have one.

I have a customer who is putting a VX swap into an 86 CRX Hf. Trying to get the most MPG as possible. The 1986 CRX Hf is one of the lightest civic/crx ever made. Just under or above 2,000lbs. Cant remember. If it goes well im thinking of doing the same thing. I still have my VX swap that I pulled out just over 3 months ago. It was getting 40-45mpg.
I switched it to a GSR swap. I miss my VX gearing!!!!5th gear on the freeway was the best! My gsr tranns needs this!

I've heard that same complaint about people who switch to GSR/b16/type R trannies from LS ones.

I do love 5th gear on the highway. So quiet and nice even compared to my LS tranny in my old teg.

Amazing thread. So inspiring. I cannot wait till my debt is paid off and I can get myself a nice little DD. I'm looking at either a 92-95 CX/VX or a 96-00 HX. The only problem is theft. Jersey sucks, and I've already had one CX stolen from me. It's the last thing I want to worry about.

I know the 92-95 hatchbacks are the ligher of the two bodies, but which engine is actually more efficient? VX motor or the HX motor?

After some research, it's not even a contest. The VX gets significantly better gas mileage than the HX.

VX: 47city/56hwy
HX: 35city/43hwy

Now if they just weren't thief magnets.

My CX was pretty much stock. It had some cheapo rotas on it, I bought it dropped, and I just did some minor OEM misc mods to the interior (gsr clothes, oem center console, UKDM SiR Gauge Cluster). There were a lot of things I did wrong with that car that will NOT happen again. So next time I won't be so vulnerable.

Back on topic!!!

Around 95 hp I believe. They're not HP monsters by an means, but they have a lot of low RPM tq for being a D series.
