The Official EF Discussion Thread
autox is just different. nothing wrong with it....i know many people who have autox'd for years..DECADES even. religiously. most have done open track days, and have lots of fun, but the COMPETITION isnt there.
you get the intense, undeniable competition with autox...exact timing, repeatability...etc.
thats the difference

lets just all agree right now that TO EACH THERE OWN, cause i can already see where this is going lol and thats the wrong direction

Oh, and for the competition part of HPDE's...time trials (NASA) and time attack (redline). You don't have to spend a dollar more than what you spend for vanilla HPDE and you get the "thrill" of competition.
The simple fact that I have never had an instructor at an autox event makes HPDE that much better for me. I really wish I had more personal impute at autox events, cause half the time I'm at a loss as to wtf I need to do to improve. But at HPDE events, the instructors really help out and walk you through things that I would have NEVER thought of that is pretty obvious to everyone but me.
are you disagree'ing with me that there isnt competition at open track days? there shouldnt be....... obviously you play with your buddies, rip hard, etc, but its not smart to try and race , be competative, etc. that should be reserved for actual racing.
autox is completely about competition, and running faster (measureably faster too, you can tell if a change did something)
dont get me wrong, i've done a lot more track days than autoxs...heck , i've instructed more track days than i've dont autoxs....and i prefer that. autox seems too tedious to me. kinda boring, but still a good way to kill a saturday.

What is the point I am missing? You talk of no run off room, speaking from a "technical" aspect you would attack the turn the same if there was run off room or not. The only thing that really comes into play is how comfortable you are pushing the limits of the car, as on a road course the speeds are higher.
Again there is no hostility on my end, just providing my take on why autocrossing is just as technical if not more technical than lapping days. Would I trade a day of autocrossing for an hpde? Of course, but that doesnt make autocross an inferior sport.
Wait...Who are you?
anyways I was just kidding around with James when I made my original comment...this thread is the last place I should have to defend my retarted comments

No one here thinks you're being hostile. Seriously, this is the interwebz.
On another note, I pick up my new whip this weekend. I'll post pics once it's loaded up on the trailer and I'm officially towing her home. It's not EF related, but who cares?

Ohhhhhh, no. This thing will get tucked away like the CRX. I don't enjoy cruising the CRX any more because of cops. My father's car (the one above that I'm purchasing this weekend) is totally legit. '98 B18c5 swap, BAR legal. ITR recaros, lots of other goodies. I only plan on doing a few more mods (5-lug, spoon calipers, little bits and pieces). It is in PERFECT shape...and I mean PERFECT. I can only hope to keep it in the same shape my father has for 13 years.
The wagon goes on sale in a few weeks. Then I'll get my new daily (4-door integra).
