The Official EF Discussion Thread
No matter how much shock travel you restore on a lowered car, the rest of the car's suspension will run out of travel. You are taking inches out of the designed range of motion when you lower it. It might ride "comfy" on a street that is very smooth (even so, arent your spring rates a lot higher?), but hit anything non smooth at speed and its crap (i.e. suspension bottoms out, UCA hit the body, banging sounds as a result etc etc). You cant get rid of that on a slammed EF, its just not possible!!!
I feel a bunch of these claims of non harsh rides when slammed are simply bogus. I dont see why people dont want to admit it. We all drive EF's that are lowered, we know what goes on and what it generally feels like. You cant fool your own kind! haha. I think that everyone's definition of ride quality differs greatly, and thats the reason for the misunderstanding and confusion.

only way to know, is for you to try it out and prove me wrong.
dont read google and tell me its wrong. of course scientific reasoning says so, but personal experience and custom work can improve ride quality.
what makes the ride harsh is not having uca travel on your car. you can go as low as you want, but whats the tophats going to do? and coilovers going to help, if your arms dont have the freedom to move?

I see you're trying to argue your point, but let's be real...Woody cut out his shock towers so the UCA's had more travel...and it still rode like ****.
Period.
Haha, dude. We have tried it out. I've had several suspensions on several different ED's I've owned. I have also had the pleasure of having 408wdy as my roommate and driving/riding in his hatch (probably the lowest ED hatch on the net). It rides like complete garbage...and he's done a lot of "custom" work.

Not sure what you're asking or saying here. Its as if you're agreeing with what I, and a few others are saying, but then the first part I quoted up above doesnt match.
And if you think omni coilovers ride well at the height you are at(even with super extended tophats), you haven't been in a Honda with a quality setup. You are way out of the the proper range of those dampers. I guess compared to some ef on eBay coilover sleeves and blown shocks it rides good but riding around on the bumpstops is not a good ride
