your gf owns. if you have new rotors you might as well replace the pads instead of doing it later.

I just got pads last yr for the rears. However, I know the rule of thumb is to replace the pads if you replace the rotors. BUT...I just threw on Autozone specials in the rear b/c I know most of the braking is up front. I'm going with Hawks up front, since aftermarket-wise, I've had good experience with them. So...should I cough up the extra 20-30 bucks for aftermarket rear pads?
lol pandarex, I guess I had to restate the question.

i myself would replace em and keep the ones your going to take off for a replacement later, or emergency. it would just suck if those ones you have now wore down your blanks and you lose em because of $20 pads. but i still have as far as i know the ones that came stock on my car for the back
lol.

my understanding was, its basically a base/clear paintjob but with a dulling agent in the clear that gives it that "matte" finish. That being the case, its at least as much work as a regular base/clear paintjob, if not harder because with regular clear if its got orange peel you can at least knock it down by wet sanding...I'm not sure how that would work out with intentionally dull clear coat. *edit* and if you haven't run across it, duplicolor sells "trim paint" as well as a company called "SEM" that you can buy at an automotive paint supply store. Works pretty nice for trim, i repainted my mouldings and door handles with it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thanks for the info. I'd like to look into it a bit more. It'd definately be original in my area. Well just about anything other than altezza's is original around here. I think I remember someone saying that a company makes a paint called "Hot Rod Black" and it's a flat black paint, looks good if done correctly.

And how can you go wrong with Mugen?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'd love to have the Mugen wing, but I'm not interested in paying $750 for it, or whatever the cost is nowadays.

What does a quality flat black paint job cost? An actual paint job, like the Skunk2 DC5, not primer. I know I can't get an exact price, but is it more or less expensive than your typical metallic/pearl paint job? I think it would give the car a down-to-business attitude.
Speaking of business, w00t for a 34% pay increase.

I think that flat black one is a Datsun, if that's what you were referring to.

yup, 510. I remember when I was really little my dad had a datsun, but I don't think it was a 510. I think it was one of the "super bees"...whatever number that was. 310 maybe?
