I'm thinking of adding LS 1st and 5th gear.

or maybe you jsut thougth of that for something to type when in reality you probably couldnt fill a tranny thru the VSS hole if someone asked you to maybe??
ATS makes a 3.077 first gear that is a little talle than stock so it brings the 1 to 2 shift closer together. its a little bit too tall for a usdm final drive so if its a us tranny youll need to slap a jdm final drive for street use.
do a little homework or ask someone who has had a b series tranny all over their garage floor.

You have to understand I went from a 200whp K series RSX-S to a B16 CRX.
I let my sister drive the CRX and she thought it was a blast. It's all relative...

alright....
my next built motor is going into a car that in stock trim will have working AC and PS and whatnot. so its a matter of sacrifice. if i am going to sacrifice those power amenities, i am not going to sacrifice them for a ****-ant b16, a 185whp lsv that is old news or even a 200+whp b20 vtec that will feel slow after a week. but i will sacrifice them for a 300+ k24 all motor pump gas set up. or a lightly boosted reliable 400whp k24 boost set up.
and besides, the aftermarket is getting ready to make a full swing toward the K.
also, if you knwo where to look (like heinrich crxEE8) you can build a K24 i-vtec for about what it costs to build a b20vtec these days. maybe a **** hair more because the cams are 700 bucks.
edit: basically, i want to keep up with the technology and make big reliable power so i can run full interior and not feel like a slug. gone are the days of gutting the **** out of a car to make an LSV feel fast.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm glad more people are coming to this realization. A stock K20 with i/h/e/kpro are making as much or more power than fully built NA 1.8L and 2.0L B series.
I know, I know it comes down to cost, that's the down fall of the K series at this point. Most of the aftermarket focus has been mainly on the K20. People are now realizing that the K24 is also a beautifully engineered motor with untapped potential.

Hey, at least he doesn't pretend to know all there is to know about motors. We all have to start somewhere when it comes to our knowledge. I'll be the first to admit that I know basically nothing about wiring.

for someone who says so much you know so little.
I'm just getting opinions and making my own decisions based on facts from actual experience which is always the best way to go about doing things. You can read all you want from a thread but until you do it yourself you will never truly know, which is what I tend to read from you when you make comments such as:
16" SW388 have holes between the stud holes
and
RHD civic coupes never existed
and my favorite about jdm SiR-G front ends are the same as USDM front ends
Just stop with all the high and mighty stuff because it gets old. Being the most educated interweb person on H-T hasn't really done much for you so just calm down a bit for the love all that is good in this world

ok so I wont swtich the 1st gear.
but does LS gearing make the big of a difference in so-called "loss of power" if I were to word it that way with a b16??
OK lets see. If I'm at button willow would I want to be able to stay in gear longer at low rpms with a higer speed or the other way around??

If you use 5th gear in the 1/4 mile your making over 500whp, so the answer is no, its only for mpgs and higway.

Get a B16 trans y0. You stay higher in the RPMs when shifting and its generally awesome-er.
B20 with B16 trans is an awesome setup.
