Rotate the crank itself. Rotating the Dizzy will not move the crank to TDC. (I may be completely missing the Q)

Yeah I may have worded it wrong.
sorry bout that

Timing belt skipped a tooth. Put the Crank to TDC and lined up the cams correctly
I started the car and checked it with a Timing gun.
While checking it I noticed the white notch pulley that is supposed to line up with the lil plastic notch (TDC) on the plastic cover to is not lined up.
So while the car is running I rotate the dizzy to make the meet right??

never had this problem before

If I remember correctly for a 0 degree timing light you use the center mark. I could be wrong though as I havent timed and engine for at least 8 months. If you dont use it you lose it!

Timing light is for timing the dissy, you dont need it to find if your cams and crank are tdc

hmm..

0 degree will put you on the center mark.

17 degree timing light on a B series will put you on the single TDC line. funny how that ends up working out.

Agreed. If your trying to set the crank/cam, then go by the TDC crank and cam gear mark. Don't make it more difficult by trying to compensate with the dizzy.

alright maybe I should give the full rundown of what happen
This is on the b16 not the d16 btw

Car was starting fine
dizzy bearings went bad
replaced the dizzy
car wouldn't start
took of VC and noticed cams were off center and timing skipped a tooth
lined up cam via crank and some playing with the belt
lined everything up TDC
Still need to replace belt and I lost my wheel lock key
need to get wheel off so I need to drive to discount tires
started car up checked timing with timing gun since I replaced the dizzy
and noticed the notch was not lining up with plastic indicator
..and thats where I am right now

You dont need to pull the wheels to do the belt, you can take the tbelt off the cam gears and set it all to tdc from there, then reinstall the belt, rotate 3 time and tighten the pulley bolt

Jump your timing thing, on the drive side near the washer on obd0, obd 1 ground d4, and then use the t light to set base timing and move the dizzy according

Yep ground d4, hook up your light verify base and adjust as needed (+ or -)

You may wanna add a degree or two if you run decent gas, for ***** and giggle

if you dont ground that wire your ECU will correct timing, thus making timing adjustments impossible. some use a paper clip

oh yea....dont forget to remove the paper clip when you go out trying like hell to chirp second afterwords.

Awwww you guys are friends now!! LOL

Good to know that even though people have different views on how to fix up a car (and strong ones at that) they are still willing to help eachother out
