I must be a FAKE enthusiast then becasue I never bolted on anything other than an intake to my D16. Does make me a ROTA enthusiast then?

I think I inadvertently started like 8 pages of bickering.
Cliff Notes: I describe my build and discuss my feelings on real/fake and JDM/USDM.
I chose replica side skirts because real ones are very difficult to source (esp since I'm not in CA), and the last set I know of sold for $400+. I end up spending a ton on shipping.
I also bought replica mirrors because I'd rather buy a bed room suit than the real ones.
Where I'm from there isn't a JDM movement. Clean, non-rice cars are few and far between. There are only about 3-4 people that even know about my build around here. I buy real parts for me. I like to have the best of the best, knowing that I have authentic parts that were developed with a passion for racing gives me a sense of satisfaction, JDM or otherwise (Circuit Hero, Hasport, Hondata, etc). I prefer many JDM parts over USDM parts because they have a level of exotic-ness. I guaranty you most of the parts I have gathered for my car are the only ones like it in the state (OK). 99% of the people will look at it and not realize it's anything, but stock. My car won't be at show after show because I'm building it for me. If you've ever seen the Barrett-Jackson auction you may have heard them say the term "resto-rod." This is a car that has been restored, but updated with new technology, such as motor, susp, and electronics. This describes my build to a "T." New school tech, old school flavor, all in restored condition.
If you'll notice, I didn't say anything derogative towards Rotas or fake parts. Most of them serve a purpose and, frankly, look a whole lot better than stock or rice. My financial situation wouldn't have allowed me to buy some of the parts I have until about a year ago or so. I am by no means a baller, I have just learned some patience (finally) and spent my money wisely. It's a long term project because I don't have piles of money. I make some, I spend some. It's also long term project because I enjoy spending just as much time with my wife and daughter as I do on my car. Man, I feel old when I say "wife."
Anyway, replica parts are the only option for some; I don't respect them any less for that.
Chad - You get your own paragraph.
I plan on getting some EF9 tail lights when I reach the reassembly stage. IMO, they look much better than USDM due to the wrapped amber on the corners. I completely understand what your saying though. People spend $800 on an EK9 column light.
That would be better utilized in the offering on Sunday.
Rest assured, though, I'll have an engine stand with something special on it. If you care for the details, you can get at me with a pm.
I forgot who said it, but they were dead on. Execution is key.
