If you want a decent suspension, don't track, and don't want to wait forever for a rebuild, go for it.
But...I can link you to a lot of threads that state flat-out...Koni yellows, 3011's, etc. combined with custom rated ground controls is the best bang for the buck.
People think "full coilovers" are the best of the best, but they are not. A shock and sleeve set-up is just as functional.
I track Omni's and they have been good to me. The ONLY suspension I'd buy for a track car would be Koni's. Period.

Man...I'm getting annoyed at this whole JDM price-gouging BS. What I paid $150 for last year is now worth $500. At this rate, the going price for a JDM front bumper + bumper lights + fogs alone will be worth more than a clean EF
. Does anyone know how the market prices of JDM EG/EK parts have been doing? If EF parts are skyrocketing I'm just wondering how other popular makes/models have been doing. </TD></TR></TABLE>
For real, i hear ya. Its kind of a good thing for those of us who have spare stuff laying around, lol.
I remember when ef8/9 front ends were $499.

not that I'm cheap or anything but I won't have that kind of money anytime soon to spare
so whats the next best thing
I don't want to cheap out and get crap because I hate feeling like my car is going to break in half everytime I hit a dip/bump on the freeway
hate to admit it but I really am a newB to this whole suspension thing</TD></TR></TABLE>
koni and GC
i ended up going with the kyb agxs due to the GCs i had would not fit the konis and i regreat buying the agxs. not a fan. i raised the car up to a normal height and it rode great. i dont not recomend the agxs for "slammed" applications haha

The benefit of the coilover over the koni/gc setups(and similar) is the fact that you adjust ride height on the shock body which does not shorten your shock travel. I love my ksports, and I'd like to try the koni/gc one day for all the great reviews I've heard. I've ridden in a couple cars with the setup and I like it a lot.

I'm not catching onto what you're saying here. Maybe because it's Friday and I'm up to my ears in patient compliants/internal investigations.
How does the sleeve type shorten shock travel over a full-coilover?

because the pole in the strut with a slipover setup gets forced into the strut when you compress the coilover. Whereas with the coilover has an adjustable lower perch which has nothing to do with the cylinder itself. These usually allow for 2-3" of adjustability. Plenty for any application.

i think what you are saying is
koni/gc combo is not height adjustable, only preload adjustable.
ksport, tein flex , and other similar have adjustable ride height through asjusting the length of the assembly. without affecting the preload.

haha yea thats it! I couldnt think of the term 'preload' so I was trying to break it down into lei mans terms.

Quite possibly the coolest video I've seen of a cherokee off roading. It's an RC cherokee but the way the person made the vid, it looks completely real and this thing really holds its own! Makes me want to go out and buy an RC cherokee. Really makes me miss my cherokee.

I'm guessing you don't track/auto-x the car then? </TD></TR></TABLE>
that's what i'm going to be doing...it would be great if Tein offered their Flex set-up for 4th Gen Civics

James, I'd recommend that you go for the Koni's if possible. If not, I had illumina's before and by far they are the 2nd best bang-for-the-buck shocks out there (IMO) You drove my car with the ksports + the 22mm rear sway and the dampers were most definitely NOT matched to the spring rates lol.

THE K*SPORT SET FELT NICE AS HELL. IT FELT TIGHTER IN HANDLING THEN MY CAR RIGHT NOW
AND AS FAR AS THE PRICES
ITS GONE UP EVERYWHERE I THINK EXCEPT FOR INTEGRAS
BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE U SHOP. YOU'LL BE BETTER OFF LOCATING A NON-CA IMPORTER/WAREHOUSE AND BUYING FROM THEM. FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN THEIR PRICES SEEM TO STAY PRETTY REASONABLE.
I'M SUPRISED B SEIRES MOTORS HAVEN'T GONE DOWN IN PRICE EITHER.
ON SNAP
B.S. = B SERIES
ANY OF YOU GUYS GOING UP TO FONTANA ON THE 20TH FOR THE TIME ATTACK??
AND I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING REALLY GOOD FROM THE TEIN FULL COILOVER SETUPS AS FAR AS EF/ED CARS GO

the only decent coilovers from tein are the mono-tube setups. i dont think they make ef specific mono tube setups anymore. but u could go with some mono FLEX which would be decent but in that price range you can get something far better for the money. IMO
i had the RA's awhile back and they blew out. =/

Yeah, the ksports were pretty stiff, but sorta bouncy. Chassis rigidity plays a large factor in that too though I suppose (6 point cage). I can't wait to drive my car with the new setup (Koni + GC/custom rates + cage + ITR 5 lug + 22mm rear sway + spherical bushings)
B-series I'd have to agree with you on the prices, but I managed to get my full B17a1 swap + tranny for 1g flat

I didn't like my TEIN SS with the pillowball mounts but after playing with the settings they blow my old KONI's out the water. I think people are talking opinions and not facts.
