yeah I talked to tom on facebook, that's a sweet hatch! this past weekend got me super pumped for next season, few little tweaks to the car over winter and im shooting to dip into the very high 1:40's

You'll always pass people no matter the run group. Some people run advanced group because they have YEARS under their belt, but they just aren't fast, yet they are very aware.
On the other hand, you'll have the super fast "intermediate" who can't see farther than his dick can reach..
Last year, Jabaay and I went to NSXpo at VIR. It was my first time there and that place makes Mid Ohio look like a little girl. In my car, I was 110mph at the first bend of the uphill esses. I don't even hit that on the back straight at Gman. Anyway, in the first drivers' meeting, a guy in advanced asked "This is my first time here, can I drive the first session with my flashers on?!" They agreed to let him, not only did he, but a few others did.
It sounds like a lot of people are putting in work for next year. Hopefully I get out more than a couple sessions and one race..

I might not be "fast" but i am a very aware driver....i am very aware of what going on around me...i check my mirrors alot. If i see someone 2 turns behind me them 3 turns up i see he has gained 1 turn, i know in a few turns i will alter my line to allow him to pass and keep his line if possible. Needless to say people dont get stuck behind me....im not one of those idiots...i also dont try to drag race people as they pass....exactly why i ended up in the sand trap at 3....that strait isnt very long i get it your beemer is strait line faster than me....but i have been on your *** for 3/4 of a lap and your getting passing flags...then point me by cool. I go off line and he drags me bassically i come way to hot into the corner. On the brakes as much as i can and turn in. To much trail brake and in the sand i went. Had i been on line i would have made the corner no problem.....i almost backed off the point by, really should have as soon as i saw him get back into it
haha. That red mist got a hold of you!!
My first event was WMHM09, I'm in my stock sedan, rollin' through the group. I'm catching this ITR, I'm getting all hype, I do the whole motion like "Get over here", Mortal Kombat style coming out of T11. Then, T1, this happens...

You sir are backwards in turn 1....though maybe running ccw but nope white and yellow car are going clockwise
Whats up with you and turn 1 man....thats an easy corner....8/9 is the one that gets me, but the s2k feels way more stable around that corner than the eg. But the eg suspension wasnt quite as good as the s2k either
Then again i keep pussing out on t1. Im not quite to the point where i know my breaking power, end up into the brakes to early...s2k brakes plus dtc70 equates to some serious stopping power. Something im still getting used too. Im finding i can stay in the throttle way into the braking zones

The sedan picture was too much curb.
The hatch picture was a case of several things. I blamed it on the tires because they were bought used; RA1s dated from as far back as '08. As bad as they were, I found out later while bleeding my brakes, there was something in my left rear line or caliper. So, it made braking pretty wild. T1 has that crest, I normally brake as it starts going downhill. I had like 3 spins there on that day, one was super wild. The car snapped as soon as I got on the brakes, it went about 200 degrees around. I was looking over my right shoulder at the ARMCO. Another time, it snapped, not as far, but still passed 90. I watch the ARMCO, once I clear it, I hammer down, monster truck the curb, it finally "grips", I'm one arm out the window doing the trucker honk signal to the people on the bleachers. The main flagger at start/finish came up to me after the session; "Holy ****, that was wild!!"
This was at Mid Ohio earlier that year. Look at what I'm "heading" towards. At Honda Meet, Tall Kyle was like "Holy crap going into eleven." "Yeah, back end probably went 6 foot side to side." "Yeah, AT LEAST!!" At first I was "pissed/over it", but I used it to my "advantage" and learned from it; how to handle those non-perfect situations.

Honky rink! Kickin' up dust.
I don't know where I haven't went off there. Maybe T3, T2 just two wheels off at exit. T5-6, off running reverse, sucks out there. T7, went 2 off running reverse, stayed throttle. Nice and smooth out there. Spun T8 and had Cody charging at me in the NSX all OG Pikes Peak aero'd. I was yelling go, go, go! Ten isn't bad. T11, I've been in the sand and I've got on the brakes and said, nope, straight into the pits.

It's a snowing here, so the hatch is up in the garage likely until April. March if I'm lucky.
I had two different instructors at two different tracks this year tell me that my car seems to need/want more rubber. I also noticed towards the end of my last track day that the tires were letting go sooner and sooner every lap until the rear end finally kicked about 25-30 degrees off line in the corner. So that was kind of what I was thinking of making my first priority this winter. Currently on 205/50 Direzza ZII's on 15x7 wheels. There's probably a little life left in them, but I don't know if they'd last all summer next year or not. So what I'm considering is going to a 225 tire.
Basically I'm hunting for opinions on 225 tires on 15x8 vs. 15x9 as well as fitment issues? Wheels are likely to be 6UL's still so both sizes would be +36 offset. Am I right in thinking that 15x9 +36 isn't going to fit in the rear without spacer/flares/grinding the RTA? If that's the case maybe run 15x9 front and 15x8 rear with 225 all around? Thinking out loud and looking for opinions.

Check out NWP, all those Cali guys run 8+. You'd probably need spacers to keep the tire away from the trailing arms. At VIR, I noticed that the Hoosiers were rubbing the trailing arm under deflection. That was 205 Hoosiers, so more like a 225 on more "street" tires and a +40 7 inch wheel.
Also, I don't think that you're "using up" rear tires. Sounds like a pressure issue in the rear if it is just "getting loose".
And, with the front they'd just overheat and want to push everywhere.
Bigger, better, this and that, and the other, to me, are all band-aids. Of course you want to make your car better and faster, but you have to also think about yourself. My car has stayed the same, power wise, for four years, the tires and brakes "improved" after every season.
My "bang for the buck" tire would be a NT01. Fast tire that doesn't wear out "fast" and they take a beating!

Thanks for the input. At this point. I don't know if I want to go to a competition tire like the nt01. I'm more looking to just get more rubber under it. I'm not sure my current tires will last the season next summer and I'd like to upgrade when I'm done with them.
Power wise, I don't really think I'll need to up that for a couple more seasons at least. I know there's a lot more to get out of the car at the current power level. There were even a few times this summer I wished it had less power. It can make the learning curve seem a bit steeper. Tires/wheels are going to be just about the only thing I spend money on this winter on the car if I even do it. Mostly I just want to tie a few thing up with the swap, get my speedo finally working, fix my brake pedal/gas pedal positioning, etc.

I know staggered is popular in japan...225 (or more) up front with a 205 rear...i have heard 225s are harder to get heated up on the rear of civics...or just take longer....also more rear rubber might make the rear less loose and not rotate as well.
I was running nt01s on the civic and absolutly loved them btw....had them in a 205 on a 7" wheel....i bet they would grip better than a 225 v2 or r-s3 and not need tons of mods to fit them
I was running pretty loose on the s2k and talking to my buddies about it said it didnt sound right to go do a few laps and pull off to check pressures...i was at like 45-46 hot....dropped those down to 38 and went out. The car tightened up quite a bit and overall felt 10x better. So brap might be on to something
I did one 30 min session and at about 25-27min in the r-s3 started loosing grip or greasing or whatever you call it. I could feel it start getting looser after 5/6. I did a full on drift around 10 and pulled off to cool them. Coming up hot pit lane they started waving the checkered so it was almost a 30 min session...point is plenty of guys running v2s and they seem to do well and capable enough to handle a 20 min session

Keep your wheels, buy same compound, but 225s and party. That simple.
I've ran staggered, 225/7.5 and 205/7. Eh, whatever. I'd rather run square and be able to rotate my wheels and tires as far as DEs go.
