Well, I didn't accomplish too much, last night.
Yesterday started early, I got up at 545am to get to the gym before work. I knew that I had to work on the hatch, so I went in early, normally I go after work. Well, around 2pm, Brandy calls me and says there is a "whistling" noise going on in the engine. Oh great, nothing like an over the phone diagnosis. I leave work at 4pm to go "take care of it".
I had to stop by the hardware store for the ballast installation. So, I made that quick and stopped by the house to get my tools and jack. I picked Brandy and Bai up at her mom's house. We get to her work around 530pm, time to find this "whistle". When I think "whistle", I am thinking an air intake issue or a vacuum issue. So, I open the hood, the tube from the resonator to the air box is a bit "open" into the air box. I think, "Thank goodness, easy fix." I start the car, this isn't a "whistle", that is the belt. I walk around front and you can smell it. Ok, so is the belt rubbing or is a pulley or tensioner shot? I don't know enough about Scion/Toyota to know their common issues. Luckily, Brandy's brother in law knows a Toyota tech. He lives up the street from her work, so he stops by. Now the car won't start. So, their has been a drain on the alternator and the battery is dead. We take the belt off and all of the pulleys spin freely. So, it needs a load, no jumper cables, etc, at the time. Brandy is over it, I just got AAA, so we will get it towed to his work, tomorrow(today).
She hasn't ate all day, she is female, so she is naturally in a bad mood. We go to Qdoba, of course, hoping this helps the "stress". The "stress" is mounting from about everywhere, lining up Mid Ohio, squaring the Brapmobile for the trip, work has been ehh lately, change of diet, etc. As I said, earlier, I got hardware to install some plates for ballast. They are M16 bolts, so I need a half inch drill bit to do the trick. I am being cheap, so I am not going to buy a 15 dollar drill bit for 2 holes. I call my step dad, no answer, still not buying it, I will stop by and use one of his. I know that he has to have one, he has four of everything. But, with everything else, I don't remember the code to his "barn". Well, crap, I will call my mom. "Hey, I forgot the code for the barn." "Well, what do you need?" "A drill bit." "Have you asked Terry?" "Nevermind." CLICK. Really, I need to ask permission. Wow. I bet if Avijit had one, given that I had called him, he probably would have even delivered it to me. The more I go through as a parent, the more I see of what type of parenting that I went through as a youth. No need to go in to detail, but there are some evident flaws.
Anyway, I get home and I am in zero mood to do anything. Super pissed about the drill bit situation, etc. I need to bolt check my front end and swap wheels, well I got the ballast portion done. I swapped wheels for the alignment and raised the left front a turn and a quarter. I took Bai out to show her what I did to the car. I told her that we had to be quick because it was getting cold out plus it is windy. We walk out, "Brrr. It is cold out, I need a jacket." lol. We hurry into the garage, I show her that the seat is out and there are weights in there. She says, "I like it." I told her that if she wanted to ride that I could put the seat back in. She replied, "Ok, I still like it." I told her to give me a high five, so she turns and high fives me in the face. We shared a solid laugh, kind of what I needed to relieve the stress of the day. By the time I am done loading wheels and tires, it is 1030pm.
****, it has been a super long day. Plus, I knew that BMX was on NBC at 11pm for the Olympics. I stayed up and watched it, then got up for work, this morning. I woke up, early, per the normal as of late, less sleep. lol. Anyways, Brandy drove the sedan and I drove the hatch. It actually felt pretty good to drive it, super smooth, early in the morning, pretty chilly out, so it made for a nice cruise.
I get everything squared away at work. I text the guy who works at Toyota to let him know that I will line everything up. I call AAA to work my way through this "mess". They don't have me on file, haha, GREAT!! I don't have my card, yet, since I just renewed, last week. I can't log in to my information, once again, because of the lack of a membership card/number. I have the receipt at home, but since the local branch isn't open, nor the national customer relations branch, they can't verify the membership. Sweet, so nothing is accomplished, and at this point, I am not paying for a tow truck, since I DO have the "service" or lack there of. Of course, Brandy is working, too, and is now complaining about AAA. I understand, but it just sucks, period. I let the Toyota tech know the situation. I ask if he works on Monday, he says that he is off, next Saturday. Well, that does me no good since I will be in Ohio. He then tells me that he can't work on it if his boss is there. haha. Even better!! We have a new tech at work, who just came from Toyota, unfortunately, he isn't here, today. So, I might try to work something out with him. But, man, talk about a stressful situation.
At this point, I am SOOOOOOOO ready for next weekend. Let it be stress free, PLEASE. They say, what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. Lets hope so!!

I used a 3/8 in bit and got the job done with some extra forearm strength.
