I was like oh okay, time out. Expected it, but then Garrett called it? WTF? I pretty much lost it and couldn't get over it all night lol. Even at work today in random conversation with a coworker I bust out "who the **** ices their own kicker?" That is a fire-able offense lol. And to top it off, the special teams coach told him to call it.

On the flipside of things. I finally got a nice offer for my wheels but the guy wants me to drive 2.5 hours to meet up with him. I tell him I need cash up front before I make the drive. He says don't worry I have cash. I tell him again and then he says I don't have it, maybe sunday. I'm pretty sure he had intentions of lowballing me when I got there or was going to kill me in cold blood for my wheels lol.

Anyways, looking at picking up this super cheap block. Does anyone know the price to get a block honed and aligned by chance? Is there any other things I should do before I start assembling it?

 

Hone is very inexpensive. Why are you wanting to get it aligned?

 

maybe mains? or align honed? lol

 

Ya but you dont really want to align hone the mains. OEM honda cranks are blueprinted for the block.

 

Well I was just wondering if it was necessary. The block Im going to get is pretty much a spare block that someone had lying around and Im getting it for $25. It is a stout block but Id be doing a complete rebuild basically. Since its already torn apart Id like to get everything done that would pretty much be necessary.

I dont really need to get the block, but ive been thinking that a b18 would be a little better motor for road racing than the h2b with a hybrid h23vtec motor. Just a lot of chances I think Id be taking with no oil squirters on the h23v along with it being a frank motor that not too many people mess around with. Ive read the h23v threads over and over and its pretty much a hit and miss, information is limited, and no one necessary does it anymore based on the fact that other options are cheaper and easier.

 

Yeah but there are special situations like spinning a main bearing, new crank that wasn't original with block, non matching mains, etc.

 

To my knowledge, swapping OEM cranks that havent been machined (idk why someone would turn one but ppl do) is fine from block to block. Its when you put new mains that are from a different block that requires the align hone. I would imagine the specs are very close but I think the difference is in tensile strengh of the material when it gets mated to the block from the factory. As in when they torque them down at the factory and hone for the crank
