Offical eH squad list.
Got a tech question, hopfully you guys can help me out
So when i first bought my car it had a scrape on the passenger side of the bumper and a little bit on the fender too. At the time i didnt think much of it. Couple of days later when i was cleaning the car out i spotted the spare wheel in the trunk. It had a big gash all the way around on the inner side of the tire. Looked like someone just cut it open with a knife. So i started thinking that this is probably why the bumper and fender has those scrapes. At the time I thought he blew a tire and scraped a wall or something.
Fast forward 2yrs later im driving on the highway hit a hump on the rode didnt think much of it. Went about a mile then i felt the car pulling to my passenger side. I knew the tire was losing air so i tried to get off the next exit to get air but it was too late it was completely flat. Im inspecting the tire to see what the problem is and i see the same gash on the inner side of the tire all the way around the tire. The same exact way the spare looked when i pulled it out the trunk. Since then my steering wheel has a slight shake when im on the highway. It gets a little worse when i go over 65mph.
My opinion is this dude (previous owner) hit a wall, curb or something. Bent the tie rods, kept driving with out fixing the problem and his tire got ****ed up like mine did. Im sorry for the long story but i thought if you guys knew the details it could give you a better idea of what the problem is so i can finally fix this shaking on the highway. What do you guys think the problem could be?

Im not sure if its the outer tie rod, could be the inner tie rod. I know my alignment is off for sure because it pulls to the left. Im positive theres nothing making contact with the tire at all, Id hear it rubbing if that was the case. Ill try to get some pics when i get out of work.

to go off of what gabe said. the alignment SHOULD be off but they could have not told you. then aligned it and gave you the paper saying it is good. does the car have a noticable pull or is the steering wheel off center?
also the alignment could be "correct" but the lca or uca could be bent. but i would guess that your steering wheel would be off center a bit or the car would look like it was "dog tracking" slightly.
you could also have bad lca bushings which would give you the vibration and also to the eye would look "true". i have had this happen and the tire wear is what made me look closer. this could also be another point where they could have aligned the car without notification because well..they just want the money or dont want to up sell a job because they dont want to deal with it. lol.

bent components. tweaked subframe. etc. i have had loose inner and outer tie rod ends. they wont always produce a vibration but the bushings did. best thing would be to put it on jackstands and push pull on that wheel then visually inspect everything.
