I can vouch for this. I had this very same though tonite on my way home from work. It's 12 degrees outside. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I would also not use a Mugen T-stat with a Hondata system either.

Because your Mugen Freece is too warmz! J/K

Any low-temp thermostat will essentially change (lower) the operational temperature. Most engine management systems that are based off of the factory Honda ECU are expecting the engine to run between 185 and 200 - the correction factors are not adjustable and assume this. What happens with a low-temp thermostat is that the car never actually makes it to warm closed-loop operation, the result is poor full mileage at part throttle and in some cases a significant loss in power at WOT.

Hondata, Uberdata, Crome, Neptune = Factory Honda Thermostat

Edit - the Mugen fan switch and radiator cap are fine and are good investments regardless.

That's Noel's car. Very nice, great guy, good customer when I was at King.

No you can't tune around it... Your car is fine to run at 185-200 degrees, that's how Honda designed it. If your car overheats that is a whole other issue.

With the cold *** weather we had last week the freece wasn't too warmz. Thank you again Clayton... I will cherish it forever.

I don't think Clayton said it is useless. It just is not compatible with tunable Honda based ECU's.

I know with the stock ecu and Mugen thermo in my R that it is definitely running cooler than my GSR with a Fluidyne radiator and stock thermo. I imagine you could see the benefit during a 20-30 min lapping session.

It works well with certain combos. Mugen ECU definately likes it... however, in most cases you are more than safe with a stock thermostat.
