its a centurion ironman expert, and from the serial number and info i've looked at online it should be a 1989 model
so far i've ground off all the old brake line guides, shifter mounts, and derailer mounts... right now i'm still trying to decide what color i want to paint it

Picked up an old Bridgestone Eurasia road bike and did the same. Just got everything shaved off and picked up some parts yesterday.

thanks. i don't care how many people have pista's, in the end, it's a true track bike... not a crappy converstion.
and i got it for almost half the retail cost, it saves me gas from driving to work (and the stress) and let's me work off the beer i consume quite a lot of.
win+win

yeah man i love the pista, who cares, it's a nice bike. i want a chrome one for the bling
yeah i fixed the lockring. i looped the chain into itself, unhooked it fron the front and tightened it down liek that

i live in the inman park/little five points area and i see fixed gears all over the place, only a few nice ones though.
i've been riding track bikes in city enviroments since '95 and have been hit a few times, never once could it have been prevented by having a brake.

i've raced BMX, and mountain biked for years...been watching vids of the fixie guys and been looking at frames to start a build on...any knowledge on what to look out for, where to buy parts...blah blah blah (turorial for the newbs...i need some direction)
also how the HELL are those fools stopping those things, and making the rear skid like that?! (possibly a ignorant question, but i don't even care LOL!)

start out with something cheap, because you will probably wreck it while learning.
skidding is easy. take your bodyweight off of the rear wheel for a split second while locking your legs. then keep your legs locked, hope your chain doesn't break and try not to flip.

I'll rear-end your keirin. I have NJS certified bumpers on my car that can break through any force field w/ the greatest of ease

nuh uh. my forcefield has a NJS stamp on it, so that means even NJS bumpers have no effect. the only thing that can damage a keirin forcefield is another keirin forcefield, kinda like diamonds.
