True, but it honestly isn't perfect. I mean it's a solid car at this point, but would never use the word "perfect" to describe any aspect of it haha.

 

The height of the sidewall factors into the overall width of the tire.

"This number refers to the height of the sidewall. It is a percentage of the section width. In this example, 65 percent of the section width of 205mm equals 133.25."

Thus, a 205/45 will be wider than a 205/40.

Hard to explain, but hope that makes sense.

 

How would it be if it was on a 16x8?

 

205/45 on a 8" wheel?

Little bit of stretch. More than you would want.

I run 205/45/17s on a 17x8 on my R32.

What about a 205 that measures out to 209?

 

Didn't really have a winter, but just now getting into the swing of things. Actually just got the car on 4 wheels last weekend and started it up for the first time since, probably, October.

I am trying to button up a few things before next weekend. Mostly everthing is done or almost there besides front LCA replacement and compliane bushings. Then, of course, an alignment.

 

Then it will stretch less due to being wider. Come on, you are the man, the myth, the legend, THE SPECIALIST, you should know/understand this.

205 / 25.4 = 8.07

209/ 25.4= 8.23

 

Well yeah duh! Lol. What Im trying to get at is, even though it's a 205, there's a lot of tires in that size that measure out closer to a 215 such as Yokohama S.drives (210.82). Kuhmo XS for example that are 215/45/16 measure to 213.3mm. So the difference between an approved size and a not aprooved size is 2.54mm in this example. Seems negligible to me

So is a 209 reasonable to use would you say and have little stretch? And where did you get 25.4?

I wondered if you were freshening up some stuff. Get rid of your "LS/other stuff in it" trans too?


I'd go 215-40 or 215-45 if you can find that size in the tire you want. I just like the look of a meaty tire personally...

My current update. New motor going in tomorrow

 

New wheel bearing, again. Stock sideskirts, "stock" spoiler, no more lip, airdam to come. No more staggered set up, 7 with 225/45 all around. I have a muffler set up to be welded up, at some point. New rear pads to go on, I will probably get new springs in all 4 corners. I am just wanted to get it done for next weekend and worry about the rest later.

 

Geez, I'd say you changed a bunch haha. Can't wait to see it. I hope I'm in good financial shape to have a track duty car someday. Seems like so much fun that I'm missing out on.

I'd like to auto-x my car too, but circuit racing seems so much more fun.

 

It is the most fun you can have with your pants on. It might sound like a lot, but doesn't seem to be. Just with a family, I find it hard to get in the garage. This stuff should have been done before Christmas, oh well.

PS. And the headlight duct won't be in.

That is why I am going with a muffler set up, so I don't have to hear it from the IndySCCA crowd. Pun intended.
