some people just like keeping things the way they came originally. I think you're overreacting a bit, the d series may not be a powerhouse but it can move a civic along just fine..
tell em lol. personally why even touch a motor if you have no intention of making the car faster. best to leave things original then go messing with something that doesnt need messing, and have things never run the same... most ill do is tuck wires, and clean up the bay removing un necessary things.

cause we all enjoy modifying cars. some people choose to modify the car with the original motor. I appreciate all types of builds, you can have a d, b, h, k idc... WHITESLIPS' car is a timeless classic and like he said he enjoys it fine with the d. who cant appreciate that?

Before you take this as bashing, I am asking serious questions right now, not trying to be a dick.
So, what you are saying is to buy an engine on a forum with no warranty that I've never heard/seen run and hope that after I spend a good amount of cash to get it in the car that it actually starts and drives? How do you know the swap hasn't been beat on hard and had a 100shot of nitrous blasted through it numerous times? Also how do you tell if they are legit or not? Just too many what ifs and money on the line to go cheap and buy a swap that I have no idea is good or not...... I'm getting back to the old geezer thing again.

Exactly! If people wanted to keep things originally how they came, why even mod the car? To me having and modding a car that performs well and is fast is > modding a car to still have the about same performance and HP.
That's the difference between someone who appreciates the car in stock form as it came from the dealer 20 years ago and someone who wants to go as fast as possible. I got the whole racing thing out of my blood a long time ago and just like cruising around in a car that looks like it could be a few years old with low miles. It's just like the guys who restore classic cars to be identical to the way they came 40 years ago..... I would love to have a swap, but it would almost be a shame to pull the ole single dingle out.... It may not have much more HP, but it definitely performs better in every other aspect.
I'm not arguing at all. I'm just trying to explain my side of the story. I guess I'm more in to the whole restoration thing than going fast at the moment. My old hatchback had a shitty body, tore up fenders and a swap. I just built the car I have now completely backwards from that.
people talking bad about single cams are obviously not old enough to remember when thats all there was lol Single cams are great motors. If you just want a nice looking and nice handling car then a sohc is just fine. A good handling car does not have to have a ton of power to be a blast in the corners any way........look at how many fun/good handling cars their are out there with just over 100hp. I had a hatch with a Z6 and I really dont remember it being slow at all, had plenty of get up and go for a stock motor IMO.
Anyways who cares if some one has a single cam or a dohc? If its what they like its what they like.

Its a Honda, most of them get great gas mileage and can "crack vtec". **** I get 30-35mpg in my hatch with a K and can smoke 95% of the **** that pulls up next to me on the street. Can you do that with your z6?
this whole swap debate is really pretty stupid. who cares how fast your car is if youre not competing for money in some form of racing? if you drive a shitbox with a b or k swap, its still a shitbox. i promise you whiteslips hatch is cleaner than most of the swapped eg hatches in this thread. why have a swap in a car that might see 50 miles a month, at best? all you gain is internet street cred. in most peoples eyes, interent street cred means nothing. to me, id rather drop the cash on my house, wife, kids, or an education. things i can appreciate everyday of my life rather than a depreciating liability that sits in my garage 99% of the time. it took me a while to learn that. priorities change
