i got a question for all you DA lovers, what kinda oil pan gasket do you use? im on my 3rd properly tourqed felpro POS and im sick of having them split on me and leave all my nice fresh oil all over the ground. and before anyone asks if the pan or block is making them split the answer is no. Ive already tripple checked to make sure there were no rough spots that would cause problems. i will greatly appreciate any help that you shed on my little problem before it destroys my motor.

OEM all the way.
If your gasket keeps splitting then you are over tightening it for sure.
I forget the tq specs for the pan but look them up and use a tq wrench next time.

the tq specs are HELLA low, you can barely hear the click of the wrench when tightening it, i think it was like 9ftlbs

thats what i thought, and as stated above its 9ft/lbs but my snapon tq wrench only goes to 25 so i just snug up the pan just enough where it barely puts pressure onto the gasket, i was doing my balljoints so i climbed under to check all the bolts on the pan since it was a few weeks since i installed it and they were all finger loose so i snugged them up again and the leaking persisted.

would it be a good idea to use some honda bond on the pan and gasket before installing as a extra security?

I do not use Honda Bond here as the OEM gasket is enough.

there has to be something wrong with the way you're installing it if you keep having the problem over and over and say theres nothing wrong with the block or oil pan because i know plenty of people who use felpro with no problems

its like 15$ from hondapartsunlimited.com . just bite the bullet and buy one. i did mine without a tourqe wrench and it has been good for awhile. ive heard of people using silicone on the gasket. no idea if its any silicone or some kind of heat proof stuff.

thats what the people at autozone are telling me, but i have been working on cars for a long time and am in school for my ase certs so im fairly confident that i can install a pan gasket haha. I pulled the pan to take the gasket back and i went over every square inch of the pan and the block and their both fine. over tourqing could be a possiblity but 9ftlbs isnt **** so i just snugged all the bolts up in the oem manuals pattern so its highly unlikely. only thing i could think may be playing a factor is either i got 2 bad gaskets or possibly my headers causing them to split. either way i tossed a new one on only time will tell.

thanks for the help guys!

Lol thanks.

I went out today and finally got some new shots. I hadn't taken any shots since I cleaned up the engine bay and got the rear flaps.

has anyone had a problem with all 3 of their tail lights all of a sudden having a constant power? i havent had any problems with any of my lights since i bought the car half a year ago, the weird part is all i did to it was solder a new o2 sensor, put on new pads and a new pan gasket. they were working just fine when i came inside from taking a test drive after the installing the parts, but when i went outside to listen to music and smoke a cig the battery was completely dead. i jumpstarted it and all 3 of my tails were stuck on like the brake was pressed in.

Wiring is not my strongest skill so any one have any input that may help? i have to fix this before 9am tomorrow or im screwed for work.

Sounds like the switch on the brake peddle is stuck.

Well, its the stock tube with the filter added. I tried finding an AEM one that would fit but failed,so i just modded mine. I just had to move the battery over a little, that's all.

Actually it might be the rubber stopper that hits the switch, check the floor for pieces of it

that was close to the problem. it turned out that the stopper was replaced by a piece of plastic and electrical tape, which came undone. so i guess ill try to find a place to order a new one to properly fix this problem.. but for now some new tape will get me to and from work haha

thanks for the help guys, with out it i would have been ohming wires all day tomorrow
