Ok guys tell me what you think of car clubs.

 

as far as what man? like a club kinda like this or like an organization that you buy into?

 

my friends and i call ourselves a "club" its just a bunch of guys that love honda's & ironically we all have 4th gen's

 

a place where there are alot of cars and a dance floor... Lol...

 

A bunch of my buddies and i just got together and formed a club i guess you could say. I just recently joined tho. Ill have some pictures up of all of us within the next few weeks.

 

ok well basically a friend of mine and i started a car club about 2 months ago, and we had about 14 members or so, with various types of cars, majority of them hondas, but we have a subaru legacy, a built camaro, a couple sr swapped 240s, so a mix of cars. And i posted up on a couple of local forums that we are looking for more members, and i got into a pissing match on one forum of whos club was better (i didnt really even care) and on another one they made fun of the name, and the fact that i have a forum for it. Basically we are a bunch of guys that have respect for what people do to their cars, we participate in car shows, autocrosses together, do charity events, have club meetings, bbqs stuff like that. But im from south dakota the area of fanboys and bandwagons, and all i get is a bunch of flaming and im starting to get pissed off.

 

what's your car clubs name? Who care what other people say about your crew. Do you mang and have fun!

I personally was in a car club/race crew by the name of Red Zone Racing from San Jose California. Now my boys own a shop called Red Zone Performance.

the club name is speedstars car club, now people are making fun of us because of the whole initial D thing on it.

 

some car clubs are pointless. there are a few around where i live, and for the most part, they are douche bags. there was a team back in the day called "TEAM RONIN". there were actually some pretty fast, and nice cars in that one. but, a bunch of ricers congregating together in a parking lot does not constitute for a name. know what i mean? that car club got discounts at car shows, group buys for parts. had a pres, vice pres, treasurer, ect.... it was a well oiled machine for about 3 years. everyone knew who they were, they had their own shop. but, eventually, like all things, it faded away. there are still some members around, but they don't do the stuff like they used to like meets and stuff. whatever the club your in, just remember, nothing is forever. it might last for a little while, but eventually, you or your peers will grow out of it. what ever happened to just having friends meet up once a week or so. why's it gotta have a name too? i don't get that. lol

I totally agree with what your saying, I had a small little Subaru enthusiast club and we had a few really good meets but over the past year, less and less peeps show up to things and recently I've realised that our local meets are gonna have to include friends that drive other makes, which is totally fine by me, however its not going to be called a Claremont Area Subies meet.

 

lol. that makes sense. my idea of a perfect car club, would be that everyone would be invited. i honestly don't care if you drive a honda, hundai, mustang, or even a cadilac. we're all here for the same reson. to hang out, and talk about "car things". sure, his car is faster, or your car is prettier, but you guys both share a passion: cars. know what i mean?

oh, and i like subaru's. i like my honda's, but if i were to trade it on anything not honda, it'd be a subaru, or another stratus. i know the na ones aren't all that fast, but they sure do look nice. i just can't afford a wrx though, lol. although, last night on craigslist, i found a yellow one with black enkies for 6500 bucks. not too bad, but i don't have that kind of change sitting around.

 

meh, wrx's are soooo mainstream now, not to mention the insurance rates, eek. If your gonna get an impreza I reccomend getting a 1st gen (93-01) and swapping in the wrx/sti motor of your choice. I've seen some really fast,swapped, DD's that turned out to be pretty reliable, obviously not setup for a ton of boost, but still. Plus the 1st gen body style is mad-tyte IMO lol

 

My boy has an 06 STI with a ton of work done to it, too bad they are so expensive, even a used one still retains its value pretty well

I completely understand what you guys are saying about car clubs, i was in one out in cali called team sdx racing, we were just a bunch of autocrossers, kept it pretty light, worked on each others cars (i was the youngest member). I moved away and sdx just kind of faded away. I had my hesitations about starting a club this late in life, as my life is really hectic with 4 kids, i dont really get out much so im starting to think maybe my vice president needs to take over, since he is younger, gets out more etc. What do you guys think?

 

out here when there are meets stuff like that goin on, its almost certain someone will try to follow you and see where you live. then say bye bye to your car!

 

yeah i went to a few meets out by riverside, then towards san bernardino and such and it was like you just absolutely needed to stay close to your car or your **** may be missing from right then and there. But i live in SD now, we just have casino robberies lol

 

Thats a good idea, that way they wont talk about you behind your back when you skip a meeting or if you cant show up to help work on someone elses car, all my friends are young and dont have families so they can spend their money and do whatever they want, even when I do have a weekend off im so tired i dont even go to the meets, and its only 2 min away from my house lol, but then again we got alot of rich kids and they would just make fun of my car, I dont have pretty Integra anymore

 

I mean i would love to be apart of it, if you guys want to just check out the forum its www.speedstars.freeforums.org. We are just a bunch of car guys that are chill. we help eachother out and such. my cars not pretty in the least and f*ck pretty rich kids that mommy and daddy pays for all their **** lol
