~DA SQUAD Version 2.0~
Because it would be fast, a ls making 250whp should make over 200wtq...On my ls with that power I was going 12's with slicks....It takes alot to make an all motor b series go 12's with out alot of money in it....
IMO i will always turbo cars, ive been in all motor cars there fun but nothing feels like turbo lag throwing you in your seat, and busting the tires loose at 80mph...LOL

I'm sure it does for some, sorry guess I didn't elaborate on my post.
Budget builds can work for those who KNOW what they are doing. But too often most "noobs" decide to put together a budget build, which as you can imagine only turns out terrible in the end!
And it most certainly COULD take around 3k to build a good motor.
If the person doesnt already have a head and block that can be costly as well, but for the other parts:
Head work
Cams
Cam gears
Springs
Retainers
Valves (Maybe)
Intake Manifold
Throttle body
Injectors
Pistons
Rings
Rods
Bearings
Header
Gasket set
Etc
I know all these parts can be found for a decent price but its tough and thats a lot of parts!
Why spend the money on a boosted LS to make 250wheel?

and like tegman said, 250whp on a boosted ls is a 12 second ride. have seen it time and time again. tried, tested, and true. great for a budget build with a STOCK ls block and decent turbo setup. however, with my build i am planning on closer to the 400whp mark and i'll also be running higher boost than just 8-10 pounds. i'll use that for "daily" driving but i plan on putting high boost between 12-20 pounds. i dont know what kind of 1/4 mile times to expect from that though, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see, lol.
and like i said before, im not trying to be a dick about anything that i'm saying...
Sup Squad; question for ya guys. I got some 1pc headlights, and I was wondering how do you hook up the foglights? I got the OEM H3's. The plug in end is just a bronze tab with a little hole. And then the red and black seperate wire; How do you connect them? Thanks In advance.
Your really shooting for 400 wheel from a turbo LS?
Thats a VERY rare occurence and I wouldnt think youd make that much power unless its like a fully built 2 liter LS...........
I've seen many 250 hp turbo LS cars NOT going 12's LoL
Good Luck, hope it turns out as expected.

yeah i wanna rebuild my block cause like you said its got over 200K miles its more like 217,8XX
I think i'd be pretty n00b for an engine build but im having my cousin and her boyfriend help me out cause my cousins boyfriend used to LS/V with his friends and he built his 1992 GSR back in the day.
I wanna rebuild my block forsure cause its got hella miles. and probably for now just throw on a stock head?
i just threw out 3grand as a random number because a lot of people said thats how much their LS/V cost but im sure it can be like 2 grand or maybe under if you search out for the parts

I think ill do a stock head, but after i rebuild the bottom end? or should i just wait and save up and it it all at once?
or buy a stock head put the head on and then rebuild the bottom end and the head at one time?

i dont see why i cant hit 400hp with my setup i plan on using. my friend had a bone stock b18b with a kit he pieced together and at 11 pounds he put down 247whp. and with having rods/pistons/arp bolts n headstuds/cometic gasket, and pushin 20 pounds i dont see why i cant at least hit somewhere in the higher side of 300-lower 400. i also have a port n polished head and crower cams and a skunk2 manifold. plus the guy i'm using to tune my car does AMAZING work.
also, when i was at the strip last year i saw a guy with a crx (yes i know, lighter) with a bone stock b18b and a 60-1 turbo runnin 15 pounds run a 12.24 on street tires and it was his first time having the car to the track with that setup. and that track is SHITTY.
and another guy i know has a 95 civic ex and his old setup was a stock ls pushin 15 pounds, used slicks, and ran mid-low low 11's all day every day for 3 years.
to me, the ls/turbo has been proven over and over again as a GREAT budget build. and somewhere down the line, i will probably add in a vtec head, but for now im stayin non-vtec to see what i can do.

if you rebuild the bottom end from the beginning with higher compression pistons and put a head on, im sure you'll be happy for a while with that. i would however at least do cams and an intake manifold from the start though if you had the money. you can slap in some stage 1 cams and most stage 2 cams without having to do valve train upgrades, although it is RECOMMENDED by most companies to do an upgrade with the stage 2s, but also say you dont HAVE to. just a lil more to think about. but either way, i'd at least do the block to start with.

My friend has an ls integra.Je pistons eagle rods(I think retainers and valves springs) stock cams..skunk 2 intake, ram horn 57 trim....Jk tuned...20 psi he made 352whp 305wtq I think around there..His Intercooler was holding him back only precision 350....
With a good tuner and a good turbo setup 350-400whp shouldnt be that hard on a semi built ls....
Im going to have to get some pics of my new blcok for ya OldSkoolDa91. b18a1 sleeved 2.0 should be a fun ride going for around 500whp this time around
niiiiice!! and thats who i'm prob going to have tune mine as well. i've seen a few cars that john has tuned and yeah....they rip! lol. where exactly are you from anyhow man? i'm down near the maryland line..
Yeah John is a great guy, Im friends with all the SURJE guys from harrisburg....Im from Berwick?18603 NEPA area, some people have heard of it some havent.....He is a great tuner and will help you with anything you need!!!
i've heard of it, but not sure where it is. are you going to motorama in feb? i'll be there and putting my civic in the show with a few of my friends and their rides. wish my da would be done, but no way in hell for that. im HOPING to have it at least running/driving again in time for carlisle this year.
but yeah, i've heard a lot of good about john. one of my friends is real good friends with him so i'll be taking him along when i finally get to go for a tune. i cant wait! but i have soooo much work to do before i even reach that point.

Im not sure about feb..Ill probley go to carlise though....I no how it is when your building a car and have alot to do...Once you do a couple times its not that bad.My motor is torn down trans too..cars getting a cage and I want to paint my shell..But shouldnt take to long...after you have done it a couple times it gets simple
come on man, you gotta come in feb! its a great time!
and i've done my share of projects before, but this is only my second EXTENSIVE project and my friend and i are still working on the first one (his ek hatch). but i've learned a looooot on his car so once i actually get to start working on my integra again, it should be a lot easier. are you doing your tranny yourself? if so, we need to talk! lol
herb, you HAVE to come to carlisle this year and put your car next to mine (which ever one i take). i'm gonna make dan go too. and you too tegman (what is your real name by the way). i'd love to get a nice lil group of da's there this year. that would be freakin awesome!

I wish i was closer to you.
yeah herb, def. round some ppl up and bring along down man! i'll be there with a big group of my friends and their cars. hopefully the weather is good this year. it was beat last year and it just killed the whole weekend
JJ, were you at the JK/DRob Meet a few months ago?
We all ventured up there, it was a pretty good meet and dyno day.
VietBoy, IMO I like B16 heads for builds.
Also I think if you put high cmp pistons and build the block it is a waste to not put some type of cams in the head.
Also what are you planning to do with engine management?
I have seen too many ppl try to build motors and only buy pistons/ rods and cams. No injectors or EMS, which is horribly stupid.
Good Luck With your build!

im using a gsr head. according to larry widmer, owner of endyn, there are positives to both gsr and b16 heads. a b16 head would probably be a better choice due to the fact that it shares an intake side bolt pattern with the itr. that gives you a lot more aftermarket options.
