your thoughts on Octane booster
So im at my local shop,
and they had a pleuthra of octane boosters, everything from NOS to STP to Outlaw (endorsed by Earnhardt jr!) and a few others. they promise to raise up to 108 octane when added to a tank of premium gas (93-94 octane)
just was wondering how true these are, i estimate that they wont raise to 108, but more like 104 or something. the NOS brand was the most expensive at $10 a pop. would this be a safe way to turn another psi of boost up? im not trying to find a cheap way to find more HP so dont say "dude, why dont you just get NAAAAAAASSSSSSSS" cause im just curious! anyone had any experience?

Call me crazy, but everytime I fillied up, I used a half of bottle of NOS Off Road Octane booster just to be on the safe side. I would rather have to much octane, than not enough.
u throw in a bottle every few fill ups cuz the best i can get here is 91 octane... thats my only alternative aside from mixing in tolene... basically, i hope that stuff works!

well i think its sunoco or whatever but they have something here called ultra I'm preety sure its 94 octane. I dont see any reason not to use a octana additive. Eventually when I goto the street races I'm gonna throw a bottle in just for that extra protecion from knocking or detonation.
it all depends on the quality of the gas you are putting in your tank. if youre pumpin 91 octane it should be fine. i know guys who boost 9-11 lbs on regular supreme gas. octane boosters do help... better to be safe than sorry.
im gettin raped for gas... $1.85 a gallon! And it ONLY 91 OCTANE! I dunno, SCC magazine reviewed the NOS Octane Booster and got about 5whp on a turbocharged car. So it must be doing something good. Not sure if it boosts your octane from a 94 to 100, though... but FI engines love high octane gas, thats for sure! I dunno about you guys, but when my SC'd car is on 100 Octane, I get a MAJORLY noticable difference!

in my experience the NOS brand octane booster doesnt work very well for the price. the best octane booster ive used for the price was the 104+ black bottle.
my .02 cents.

the only good NOS is the black "racing formula". The weaker stuff is worthless. I swear I can feel more power when I'm at the same psi, but it might just be my mind playing tricks. You can definatly turn it up another psi or two with a full bottle though.
Yeah..I'd probably need to use this stuff cuz in SoCal..all we get is 91 octane..Damnit.. Hopefully this stuff works.
Another thing: Someone suggested that I actually BUY a huge barrel of race gas and just mix it in with the regular gas! Is this stupid? I mean, I won't do it just because I'm not willing to..but would it work for others? I'm curious...
