usually u can find 100 octane at the track, not sure how much octane booster would raise the octane level of 91 octane tho...sucks to be u guys we get 94 octane out here on the east coast!!!

You must buy 100+ octane gas from a speed shop or at the track. It's commonly called "green gas" because of its bluish tint.

Octane boost is usually just some chemicals that you can buy cheap elsewhere, overpriced. Doesn't even contain octane (isobutyltrimethylmethane), which only has an octane rating of 100 by itself. A can of the stuff might raise the octane rating of a 10-gallon tank of gas by 1/2 point.

depends on what you are doing to your engine. the more Horsepower and stress the more likely you will detonate on lower octane gas. Usually for turbo cars under 400whp 93 octane will work. After that high boost or high HP you will need higher octane gas to not risk detonating

i thought it had something to do with how many psi you are running that would need the use of higher octane because of the risk of detonation, not because of the horse power you are making. Correct me if im wrong.

compression ratio, boost level, intercooler/vs non intercooled, timing and such are all factors. you can not deturmine the octane to use by the engines horsepower

If you've ever tried to pump that into you're car you'll find they have wierd *** nozzles that don't allow you to fill up your car's gas tank directly. You have to go pump to jerry can, jerry can to tank.

If it's a TRUE 110 i've never heard of 110 UL before. It's illegal to allow customers to pump leaded gas into their cars, so i'm guessing it's a lower octane unleaded gas, and they took the research octane to make it sound better.

A common misconception is that higher octane = better.

If that were true, we'd be using Kerosene in our cars.

Higher octane means that it takes more energy to ignite that fuel, ie, that the fuel has a higher latent heat of fusion. This means that the fuel is harder to burn and burns slower.

Since that also means that the molecules are larger, heavier fuel have a tendancy of not burning as well as lighter fuels. Fuel that has the most energy per gram are things like acelylene, which have very small, simple molecules.

Thus, for the same amount of fuel, you make more horsepower using a lower-octane fuel. That's counter-intuitive, but true. This is why you can get several grades of fuel at the pump. It's not just about cost. Some cars will run terribly on 91 octane fuel, like my Rio when it was stock, for instance.

Running 110 octane fuel is not a good idea generally. The stuff burns so poorly that even in well-tuned engines it often is not burned completely. This is why when you go to the dragstrip you can smell the fuel billowing out of the drag cars. (not the top fuel cars)

Yes,this is on the top of my list. You want to run the LOWEST octane fuel you can without detonation.Sunoco is starting to sell their 100 octane unleaded race fuel at normal Sunoco stations. My VX was even slower if I ran 94 in it instead of 87.
