How high are you talking?? From what i can gather tho, no, they're not. I dont think most people really bother with MSD as much as in the past. I've personally seen a lot of bad threads about MSD products.

As for the higher hp guys, most of them (if they can afford it) are running a COP setup with a T1 cam trigger

most run M&W ignitions or COP ignitions like stated. Ive had zero issues with my MSD setups for several years now.

I'm digging my MSD coil and ignition, really has my plugs last longer. Power wasn't the reason, it was for longevity in HPDE events

How would having an MSD increase the life of your sparkplugs?? Wouldn't the increased electrical energy, also increase the rate of electrical erosion?? What you say doesn't make sence. In any case I've personally done over 700HP on stock ignition and I have a friend who also tunes thats done a few 800HP cars on stock igniiton.. Granted I think having a M&W is the way to go , but really stock ignition will work..

That's your theory to what I've experienced over the years, what can I say. with the more efficient spark, I've had to change spark plugs less often, less break ups in higher rpm settings (over 30 minutes at a time) than when i didn't have one. Stock ignition works for a bit, but I've been very happy with good ignition with good tuning. I guess I just don't consider those a waste of money, what more can I tell ya.
