Yet another Hondata Question....stock maps?
Ok...here's the situation. My motor is almost finished from being rebuilt....I ordered a Hondata 2B w/P28 ECU from Steve. He programed it for 450s that I was planning on running with the turbo. Well I won't have the turbo installed for sometime until after the I've broken in the motor and stupid me has Prelude 290cc injectors installed and just sold the P61 ECU that I was going to use. Anyways...my question is this. Would it be ok to break in the motor with the Hondata and 450s on a rebuilt 9.5:1CR B18C or should I try to find another DOHC VTEC ECU to run with the 290cc injectors and adjust the fuel pressure? Or how about getting stock GSR injectors and the ECU to run on until the motor is broken in and then run with the Hondata and tune them for the 290cc injectors I got until I turbo the car and run the 450s then? Thanks.

you can run the hondata with the 450s..think about it. It would be the same as if you had the turbo on and weren't boosting. As long as you're using the 450s with the 450 program it will be fine.

I'm just worried about the Hondata not being tuned enough and running too rich in a freshly built motor....I heard too much fuel in a new motor is not good for sealing the rings. Also this car won't be turbo'd for some time.....like months. I have the parts...but not the funds to put i together. Just need a downpipe made, oil return lines, and brakets fabbed up for the XS IC. The manifold could use some porting too and maybe a thermal coating. Thanks.

don't change your injectors out until you are ready to tune the hondata. Run the hondata but just jumper it to run your stock ROM. No concerns then.

The ECU that is equipped for my Hondata is a P28.....it won't run as a DOHC VTEC ECU if I jumper it will it? Thanks for the help....really don't want to mess this motor up after being out for over a year w/o a car and having other problems.

I don't get it...
The P28 ECUs should control VTEC cams.
I have a P72 but bought a P28 as backup. The only difference will be that the P28 has no knock sensor board and does not control the dual runner manifolds in the GSRs (I put a skunk 2 manifold in mine).
So, jumpering the ECU to change ROMs does not change the fact that the P28 should control VTEC solenoids. If your P28 is not controlling your VTEC cams, there is another problem there! If I an wrong here, please, somone say something.

The fueling is different on sohc than dohc, but it should run and drive with the 290s
I would try the 450s first. On a few test cars i ran 450s with stock motors and
was seeing about 40-45mpg, so it was running pretty well.
