... will i be able to spool a t3/60-1 with this setup?
gsr block
stock sleeves
je pistons
eagle rods
... or should i hold of on the rebuild and save some more $$$ for ductile iron sleeves and an 84mm bore(darton or ge)...
... also, when should i expect to see full boost with either of these setups (stock sleeves vs resleeved)...
lemme know... and TIA...

I ran a 60-1 with a .63a/r with all stock internals for awhile. I had a thicker headgasket and arp head studs, but was running 14-15lbs daily on pump gas. You should see full boost around 4500-6000rpm depending on what kind of boost level you are trying to run.

I never got my car to the dyno, i was experiecing to many stupid little problems over the end of the summer and into fall. I did street wideband tune it, and set up the ignition maps the best i could. I would estimate i was making around 350-375whp. I would like to comment that the turbo felt like crap under 12psi since its doesnt become efficient till that boost level. I downsized to the 60 trim t3/t40e .63a/r since its alot better compressor map than the 60-1's. I should be able to support my 450whp goal with the turbo, and still have very good spool up on the street. With the 60 trim you can be efficient at 6psi and make good power, with the 60-1 you have to boost it higher to make good power. Efficiency is as important as air flow of a turbo. I sold my used 60-1 and have another brand new one in the box that i havent used yet. I probably will just sell it since i wasnt that impressed with its performance at lower boost levels.

Re: ... will i be able to spool a t3/60-1 with this setup? (boosted hybrid)
Yeah like boosted hybrid was saying to really make use of your 60-1 you need to be between 12-25psi althou efficiency is between 15-25psi on that turbo.
Running 12psi feels pritty alright, once you start going over that 15psi boost level you really start feeling what that turbo is capable of. As for spoolup I would say running about 15psi with a 3" full Turbo back exhast system you will be fully spooled up by about 5000-5200rpm..
Ok, now if you are about street driving and street racing I would say that the 60-1 is not the the turbo for you!! Some people on this forum tend to really hype up the 60-1 and make it sound that it is the **** of the *****, and I'm not saying that it isn't but I personally classify that turbo as a track turbo not a street turbo at all..
Spoolup starts just at over 4000rpm and thats with a full 3" exhaust and a log style exhaust manifold so forget about running stop light to stop light or short distance racing, now if you are on the highway you will amost always have the upper hand, unless you are not driving the faster car of the two .
I personally used to run the 60-1 on a street car and didn't like it at all, sure it made awsome power up top and all that but I just doesn't spool up worth ****.
So like Boosted Hybrid did, if you have a street car go with a smaller turbo and you will be happier in your street car.
Now also if you like all that power up top, not having enough time to shift ouf of first gear, spinning the tires every time you shift on brand new high dollar tires, like monster feeling earth shattering power, and like to rip the Z06, dsm, S/C Trans am guys *** next to you on the freeway........THE 60-1 IS YOUR TURBO!!
Adi
P.S. That last statement might have been a little too much but it should work for anyone debaiting to get one. hehe

Re: ... will i be able to spool a t3/60-1 with this setup? (newgsr)
I agree the 60-1 is a nice highway runner, but if the other person is making more power on the 60 trim t04e wheel, then its goodbye to the 60-1. Its kinda hard to boost 15psi or over on pump gas safely, and still have your engine left after a year with that large of a turbo. Doesnt really matter anyway, cant shift into 5th gear so i never took advantage of the highspeed top end of the turbo. I felt scared over 130mph in my civic on the highway, and the suspension and brakes are probably overkill. Civics are not top end runners!

Well everyone forget to ask:
What are the specs of the turbo?? You probaly will spool it but the question is, when??
What compression are you running?
I hit full boost on a 62-1 with a .70 exhaust a/r, P-trim, @ 5500 and on stock bore.
edit - Also, Tuning has a major role when it comes to when you spool and when you hit full boost

What is your compression? Mine was high 8:1's. My timing was very conservative so that helped spool up a little bit in the map.
