Default Where'd ssautochrome go?

It's been a bad day. I finally got the supplementary fuel system mounted and plumbed for the turbo Rio. I adjusted the wastegate on the Stone Racing T-25, made sure all the connectors were tight, and went to test drive.

As soon as I got into boost, the car started missing bad, and I heard the worst sound an engine can produce: It started ticking.

So I'm like, "Well, I guess the Kia's longblock isn't capable of boost." But I had been in boost before, and the engine had performed admirably, before I installed the supplementary fuel system.

I limp home, pull all the charge pipes apart: Full of oil. I swear up a storm for a few minutes.

The Stone Racing turbo is SHOT. Brand new bloody turbo and it's toast. I shouldn't be surprised, because the turbo's casting quality did not impress me when I bought it. Both the turbine housing and the cartridge were cast out of nodular iron instead of cast iron, and I ended up having to use another turbine housing because I broke the nodular iron one. (Wish I would have known that when I bought it)

So to stop the flow of oil, I put a ball bearing in the oil inlet, and then I removed the charge pipes and stuck in the CAI I had before.

The good news is, the engine isn't damaged. The ticking stopped after I drove to get a pizza, and put more oil in. It probably just ticked because I was 1/2 quart low.

But, back to the subject of the post.... I wanted to email ssautochrome and bitch about the crappy turbo, but it looks like his Ebay profile is gone? Do you suppose there are more unsatisfied customers?

hey you're not the only one this happened to. mine did the same exact thing after a week...bearings went out and i tried emailing them for a refund or at least a partial refund and they only replied with a bunch of bs. i had to replace the whole turbo with a turbonetics one which i'm still running. well, good luck trying to get through to those bastards.

ssautochrome went exactly where they should

AWAY....

sorry for the problems, that sucks...ebay is hit and miss...i usually look for things that dont look professionally posted, like big color post and special claims...

the good deals are the ones from people just like you and me..

but email ebay tell them your problem they should have some record since ssautochrome was a ebay store also...so they should have some contact info...

I found them. Their Ebay name is http://www.ssautochrome.com now. I emailed them, but don't expect a good response. I have bought from ssautochrome before. Bought many of my flanges from them.

Okay, I have a question: Where can I get a brand new, OEM quality DSM T-25 for the least amount of money? Failing that, is there a place where I can just buy a T-25 cartridge for cheap? (Since the DSM turbo uses a Garrett cartridge)

I'd hate to have to buy a used turbo, or cough up more dough than I've spent on the entire turbo system.

naw dude...i bought the turbo, then found out that everybody hated ssautochrome, so i was scared...then the turbo blew, and i was already saving up for a new one, but i decided to see if they would actually stand by their one year warranty...sure enough, they did...it was a fast and easy transaction...they may not have the best products, but they have pretty damn good customer service.

Its cool to see a comment like this. Its great that companys stand behind their products, and especially when their products are of lesser quality. Bad products or not, give good customer service and you always (most of the time) have a happy customers.

Beepy,

Please let us all know in this thread what happens!

They are not exactly gone

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...57582

They appear there and their feedback is there.

Well, mattcalica was right. ssautochrome emailed me back with return instruction. I just have to mail the blasted thing back to them and I should get my money back.

In the meantime, I have my heart set on a brand new Garrett T-25 cartridge. Hopefully I can get it for less than $200.
