IMO, always. You get so much more out of your setup with an intercooler, it's a no-brainer.

There is no certain point that an intercooler is recomended. it ALWAYS recomended. Do some reading up on intercoolers, their function, and why it's inportant to have on on all set-ups. I Don't think this should be a question of if and when one is needed it should be more about what size you need. You will get more power, and have a safer set-up. Your engine will love the cooler intake temps.
Thats the thing I don't like about superchargers, it costs so friggen much to get one with and aftercooler. The kits alone are over $3,000.

anyways yea you should get one IMO

ya id never run a kit without an intercooler . if your doing a small turbo small boost setup just get a side mount from an eclipse or somthin , you dont need a 900 dollar silvia core intercooler for a small setup . just research and find which is best for you.

I've seen guys mount DSM SMIC's in the passenger side stock intake housing, like inbetween the bumper and tire. Right where the stock intake muffler box thing is

Thats where mine is also....its easy to mount it there and about the only functional place to mount it...you need to mount it where it can get a lot of fresh cool air

There are plenty of intercooler setups that hurt performance too.

From Maximum Boost > "RULE: It is absolutely incorrect to think that "any intercooler is better than no intercooler""

just be carefull with the junkyard ones, many of which suck as far as internal flow is concerned.

Definatly try and use one but make sure it is actually helping you. The gains with a properly designed IC are definatly worth the cost.

SEARCHING is Fundamental . All these links have pictures of mounting the SMIC where you are saying.
