Whats this blue box deal?
Hey guy's I've been hearing alot about this greddy blue box deal. There are not alot of turbo setup's where I am meaning that there are certainly no Blue Boxes around.
What is the deal with this unit? does it let the stock ECU read boost and adjust for it or what? or does it just up your A/F ratio?
I hear alot of people crapping on it so I was interested in finding out whats so bad about it.
Is it a good thing if your under 10psi? or would and FMU and fuel pump basically do the same thing?
Cheers

Re: Whats this blue box deal? (Hybrid)
basically, the blue box tells the ECU that the engine is still cold, thus giving it more fuel....
as for under 10lbs of boost, many people would just suggest that you get a FMU, FPR, and fuel pump..

Re: Whats this blue box deal? (downpipe)
thanks guy's I did a search, I guess I should have tried the advanced one.
I was just curious. Seems like a usless peice of equipment to me.
Like you said and FMU and an FPR and your good for under 10 psi.

Re: Whats this blue box deal? (Hybrid)
here's what the greddy blue box does for the civic si turbo kit (similar for teh gsr kit)
changes injector pulse width so that idling with 310cc injectors is normal
changes injector pulse width as a function of actual map value to provide fuel maps from 0 to 6-7psi or so
reads in the actual map sensor value and then gives the ECU a limited map value so that it does not see boost
i'm not so sure about the temperature thing, i never wired up my blue box so i dont' know if the IAT signals pass through the blue box or not.
