What would you do?
Ok lets start with my setup:
LS/VTEC
t3/t04 turbo .57 trim
2.5" Exhaust (i know its small)
Fuel:
RC Engineering 550cc's
Walboro 255lph pump
Engine:
Stock bottom end
Vtec oil pump
Stock sleeves
ARP head studs
Very very mildly ported head (stock cam gears, cams, springs, retainers, etc)
Equal lenth ram horn style Exhaust manifold (I dont want to even say the brand, im sure you can guess)
OEM HG
OEM bearings
Power plus typhoon intake mani
Stock Throttle body
Stock LS Tranny
Ignition:
Taylor 8mm plug wires
Blaster II external coil
NGK BRK7E plugs
Unfortunatly I had to plain the head a couple of times and my last compression test showed like 210psi across the board. (high C/R i think)
Currently 8psi boost but I want to go to 15psi...
I am using the free version of CROME as of now....
I will shortly have (AEM UEGO, ostrich, burn1, and GM 3 bar map, ACT HD clutch, ITR LSD)
Ok my question(s) are, I am getting into tuning the car myself but I want to get a few things straight. A couple of my freinds are using Haltech on their cars and they tune themselves, the problems they have is that we only have access to 91 octane fuel up here in NFLD so as they tune theirs ignintions they can only advance so far until they get det but if they retard the timing then EGTS become unsafe. What is there options? For aguments sake.... I have been runing my setup for a couple of years now and I want to turn up the boost and tune it myself. What would be the best AFR to attain to make the best power safely. Yes I know that is kind of an oxymoron but really..... I was thinking of tuning it to about a 12.2:1. My haltech freinds however are using a 11.3:1. are they overly coservitive or am I retarded? Also, what should I set my ignition tables to start with. Is 18 degrees of advance to much... too little.... Like I said I am new to tuning but I want to learn more. Any advice from you guys would be appreciated. BTW in case you missed it above, I want to run 15 psi on this setup... So what do you think I can expect from a conservitive tune in power or torque? I know this is a hard question but I made 235whp on 8psi 2 years ago so I am hoping for the best from 15..

I'd shoot more towards 11.5:1 AFR than 12.2:1. A little more margin of safety for environmental change, you won't loose much if any power.
