What wastegate to get
I am planning to run about 30psi of boost in a B18C1 powered crx and I want to get a Tial wastegate.. What size would be good.. They come in 35, 40, and 46 mil.. What one should I get..
Right but its not like its a Supra running 30 pounds.. Its a 1.8L.. So the airflow going through the wastegate wouldnt need to be that high to need a 46 mil would it.. Let me know if im right on this..
what do you need 30lbs for? pro drag racing i hope, good luck with that much on the street..... also, why go with tial, if you're gonna build a high dollar baller style drag car go with a baller dough w/g, like a innovative pro or indy gate.... but they way you asked this question leads me to believe you aren't too sure about what to do and that you just want 30psi of boost to say you have it........ i STRONGLY suggest you read up and search about running that much boost, and what goes along with it...... you have a lot to learn
No im not wanting to run 30 psi just to say that I have it.. And this car is for track only.. And your right, I do have alot to learn about boosting a car thats why I am going to do a simple turbo setup on a lower cost motor first before I build my final track car.. I just wanted to know what wastegate I should get since I dont want to buy a new one for the small setup and the have to buy a new one later with the big setup.. I will check out the two companies you mentioned.. If you read up in my post I am asking why I go with a bigger one and said my thoughts about it and I also asked if I was right.. Im trying to ask questions not assume anything here.. So please done assume that im a ricer wanting bragging rights about boost.. Im asking good questions and hoping to get good answers..
Generally, Larger wastegates are better for smaller amounts of boost that needs to be done consistently. The more exhaust they flow, the more accurate and dependable the boost will remain. I'd suggest the Tial 38-40 or an equivilent HKS off the top of my head. I've seen plenty of 38mm running 25psi without problems. Your intending to run so much boost that It doesnt need to expel that much exhaust, mostly you want to contain the exhaust to keep the pressures high.
