Default What makes one wastegate better than another?

What makes one external wastegate better than another? In terms of the standard street wastegastes like the Turbonetics Deltagate, TIAL etc.?

Thanks. I figured that one out on my own. OK, what makes one WORKING wastegate better than another WORKING wastegate?

-Ability to flow or bypass the amount of exhaust needed to hold your desired boost consistantly (sizing)
-Quality of materials/build

Just a couple.

Do you mean the deltagate is or is not prone to boost spikes? Thats what I currently have, but I was thinking of buy the TIAL off of RATEDR for $180. Would this be a wise upgrade? I currently run at about 7.5 psi on the street.

they work well....no we all bought them cause they are shiny just bugging yeah they hold boost and work as they are supposed to and they dont cost too much.
HKS is a good one too but I beleive they are REALLY expensive.

HKS and tial are both great wastegates. IMHO I'd get whatever you could get cheaper. The tial does look a lot nicer than the hks tho.

The TiAL's work great and are well priced. The only thing you have to worry about is which size, but the 35mm will probably be fine for you. For higher boost pressures go with the 35mmhp version.

Tials are a great peice at the price but I truely think HKS is a better peice. The bergenholtz's were having trouble with boost with a Tial and switched to HKS wastegate and the problem was gone. I run an HKS wastegate on my car as well. Things that make one better over the other? The overall design and the way it flows. Just like porting in a head. Also some have better diaphrams then others. One last thing. Ever seen a good valve job and a good valve job? Same thing with wastegates. The seal of the piston is very important.........Mike

THe deltagate tends to have pretty bad boost spikes, I had one that blew my ring landings.. anyway I would personally go with the tial hyrbid wastegate. Has the 35mm flange but 40mm internals so it will handle alot of boost. IM viren(b18bturbo) he will get you an awesome deal in it..
