If you want something used i am sure you could find a used 60-1 or a used SC61 or something...good luck finding something new for that cheap that is not an ebay special...

500 dollars isn't enough to buy a quality turbo that supports 500whp your gonna have to save up a bit more dough. 60-1 or sc61 like urban suggested or if you can spring for a gt30r for your 500whp goals should be nice.

check out http://www.blaastperformance.c...rgers
they have some really great prices on alot of different turbos. there are quite a few that support 450-475hp, and a few that support 550-600, all within the $5-600 price range

their stuff always sketches me out, is it rebuilt? it lists it as a to4b 60-1 but shows an s cover? it says a garrett t31 then shows a picture of a turbonetics turbine cover. not to mention the pricing in their 60-1 is roughly the same as most other retailers.

go for the ball bearing turbo, but its going to cost you double and then some, quality cant be bought for 500 like the other poster said

very true, but at the same they have alot of good feedback and supposedly very good customer service. i'm not positive, but i think that these are rebuilt units, as rebuilding is what they specialize in and they offer so many different options for each one, it's hard to believe they have them all stocked/assembled.

do you personally have ANY experience with them at all to call their products not quality? I do not have any experience, however, that does not justify saying it's not a quality product
Or how about these turbos

many different garrett turbos with different trim and a/r options available and from different sponsers, all for less than 600. let me guess these aren't quality either?

Also, at his power level and for his goal, why do you encourage a bb turbo? a properly sized turbo with a decent manifold will spool up just fine with traditional journal bearings

look at some dyno graphs of a 60-1 vs a gt30r that will answer your ball bearing question.

civicvx i also have heard good things about their products and customer service i just dont understand the mix and match of parts. and looking at their 60-1 you can get a brand new garrett 60-1 for the same price.

quality compared to garrett ball bearing, the quality in power and response is different between the turbos.

maybe the quality of the overall turbo arent bad but the quality you expierence between the 2 are different and one would call the dual ball bearing turbo better in quality seen in response and power

i don't think quality is the best word choice there...maybe effectiveness or effeciency? I'll give it to you there, but i still would find it hard to justify spending an extra $600 for a bb center section...
