What makes a turbo kit A/C compatible?
Sorry for the simple question, but the search button doesn't allow 3 letter words.
My friend likes the PeakBoost turbokit, but I see it is not A/C compatible.. Is there any way to make it compatible?
Thanks for your help!

A/C compatible just means that the manifold positions the turbo far enough towards the passenger side of the car that the turbo and downpipe will clear the A/C compressor and condensor fan.
What makes it compatible or not, is where the manifold places the turbo. On most Hondas the A/C hangs off the front of the engine with the exhaust manifold right next to it. When you put a turbo mani on there, the turbo usually wants to occupy the space that the A/C compressor is in. And if the turbo doesn't, then the downpipe off of it does.
So, a lot of companies push the turbo further to the passenger side (USDM) of the car, and give you a smaller downpipe, and that will generally clear the A/C.
If a kit says not compatible with the AC, then the manifold is wanting the turbo to take up that space, or the downpipe is really big. For instance, the DRAG 3 kit gives you a 2.5" downpipe to clear the AC, but if you want a 3", you gotta ditch it. (unless you fab up something yourself) As for the turbo actually "messing" up your AC, that isn't the case. It's simply a matter of space available.

So basically we'd need a new exhaust manifold to clear it AND a different dp to fit it, is that right?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah and maybe a new DP depending on the mani/setup.

Drag and Revhard both make very nice cast manifolds that are both A/C compatible. Be careful if you look at a tubular or a thin cast manifold, some of them are cheaply made and can crack. Most people recommend a good thick cast manifold for a street car.

If you are looking for a good quality turbo kit that keeps ac I would def recommend the Full-Race kit, I think there is an ac version avaliable in the classifieds right now as a matter of fact.
I know how good full-race is, but peakboost is cheaper, and all that's missing is A/C compatibility. So I'm wondering if there's a way to change that without eventually getting to the price of a full-race kit
Im running the ONEFAB setup on my 99SI, with A/C and Full 3"DP, turbo placement is excellent, and the build quality and customer service by Matt at onefabrication are second to none in my opinion.
You would have to end up changing the manifold and dp so in the end you would end up spending the same amount of cash. The one fab is also a good quality kit as well like stated above.
