nothing really.....that's how they are on eclipse's...instead of blowing off into the atmospere, they blow off back into the air-intake....but then you wouldn't hear the mean psssssttttt of the blow-off valve....

Damn!! I was hoping to keep it. I love that sound it's addictive, but I don't like smelling like exhaust after a spirited drive.

I think if you do this, and have a closed loop wastegate, AND pass the sniffer test, you would pass emissions. At least in most states.

Plumback BOV-attached to piping after intercooler, before throttle body, the air released being directed to the intake side.

Wastegate-attached on turbo manifold or turbo has internal wastegate....

(what are you talking about 9psilst?)

You would still hear the BOV, just wont be as loud. From what I hear, it is actually a good thing to plumb it back into the cold air side of the turbo. Supposedly it gives the compressor wheel a little kick and spins it a little faster to help with unwanted turbo-lag inbetween shifts. This is something I read on a DSM board. I dunno how well it will actually work on our cars. --Someone should try it to see........

fyi... *technically* anything vented out to the atmosphere is illegal... be it a blow off valve or the obvious wastegate... ur breather filter as well! everything has to go back to into the engine and out the exhaust... otherwise honda would have just put a breather on the valve covers... "the pcv valve? who needs it? dump it to the ground..." there is a reason for everything... mostly cuz of some stupid laws

(yes i think they are stupid laws, ans no i am not trying to kill the environment; even though i tend to add to it)

It would then be called a Recirculation Valve rather than a Blow Off Valve! You could vent your BOV just before it goes into the compressor. It is supposed to help spool time in between shifts! The sound is still there, just not as loud as it would if it were blowing off into atmosphere.

Mass Air Flow Sensored cars like Nissans & Mistu's require a Recirculation valve to vent back into the compressor! That air that would be vented into the atmosphere in a MAP Sensored car like Honda's is actually not metereed until it passes through the Throttle Body! On a MAF Sensored Car the air is METERED by the MAF and is accounted for by the ECU. The ECU in turn gives so much fuel for that metered air and if you were to vent into the atmosphere, you could have idle problems since the car would be rich!

When I went for emmissions the tech asked me what my BOV was i told him it was a "sneeze valve", he said bless you - and I passed visual inspection.

I passed the actual test with a 100 dollar bill I left on his clip board.
that approx. 1.34 USD
