Default What do you think of this setup on my b16???

IHI RHB5 Turbo + 1st gen crushed BOV (For more boost) + 1st gen SMIC do you think this setup is capable of squeezign low 200'swhp on a fmu and rev hard mani.

the b16 is completely stock just has a gsr tb. Oh yea and it is a jdm b16 so the compression is a tad bit higher.

You should be fine with that setup for 200whp.

You might aswell stay N/A if 200whp is your goal. Get a bigger turbo and make some decent power. You don't have to go crazy. Just get a 14 or 18G turbo and run 10psi and make 240 to 260 at the wheels.

now which ihi turbo charger do you have ?
Just a little info on upgrading the ihi rhb52 turbos in the future for you.

The vj-14 was on the 1.6 litre 323/capri's. Turbo maxes out at 15 psi with 7.9-1 compression.
The vj-11 was on the 2.2 litre probe/mx6 which i belive made 12-14 psi (i believe) on these motors, but the vj-11/vj-14 hybrid on the 323 or capri is said to do 19 psi till redline. (6300 rpms)
the vj-16 is on the Thunderbird and makes a good amount of power and you can hybridize this with the vj-14 ( biggest intake cartridge you can put on a 14).

So which ihi do you have? it will say next to the ihi rhb52_____

ok its set to 7.3 psi, but because of the Pos wastegate it spikes to around 9-10 at 3k rpms. while you have it out i would have someone port your wastegate.

If it spikes to 10psi, that sounds perfect. That should get you 200ish whp. . .

eliminate the boost creep/spike. if you want to run high boost just get a boost controller.

hmm what are you going to do with your timing etc. you should also look into a wideband o2 sensor, egt gauge etc so you can monitor things. Daily driven maybe with some tuning. What are you doing about your injectors? you should really look into an apexi unit/piggy back fuel computer.

People seems to think that the turbokit is more important that the management? No chain is stronger than it's weakest link, and ruining a perfectly fine B16 with detonation because of "savings" in the management-section is not the smartest thing one could do. The tuning is the key to a happy engine, and an adrenaline-filled driver.

Yeah there small, and dont make much power. But I used one from 1984, original unrebuilt and it worked fine even after I replaced it for a larger one.
