ways to decrease spool time... ?
i am planning on buying the DRAG gen 4 kit when it comes out......but i want to be able to autoX with it too. I do not want the turbo lag to be a problem while navigating the cones..... what way can i decrease lag ?
-good boost controller
-light flywheel
what else ? i dont think i will be buying a BB upgrade...

How about a small turbo? Large turbos lag.
Keep in mind that lag is just lack of boost... it is not like your car will be any slower than a N/A car before the turbo spools.

Re: ways to decrease spool time... ?
BB center section would probably decrease lag the most. Lightweight flywheel is good, it will get you up in the higher rpms quicker so you start building boost quicker. Besides those, having a free flowing exhaust will decrease spool up time. A boost controller to keep the wastegate shut until a certain amount of pressure will help you reach full boost quicker so it doesn't bleed off boost until then. I can't think of anything else besides just having lightweight wheels or less unsprung weight to help you accelerate faster....Anyone else?

Re: ways to decrease spool time... ? (D-SPEED)
I autox a lot with my car. To reduce turbo lag, I'm runing 10:1 je piston with a kooks turbular manifold, light flywheel , tail wastegate and Profec B. I never had any lag problem besides one time my manifold was cracked.
But if u are serious about autoxing, I would suggest you to invest the money in suspension parts and tires. My biggest problem right now is there are too much weight transfer when lift throttle and brake. Which result in a very loose and unstable rear end (even on straight line deceleration).
I ran 500f and 400r spring weight and will try 600f and 400r soon. No swaybars... also I ran with hoosiers 225 in front with -3 camber and -2 in rear. If your car is making power you really need to find a way to put it to the ground.
Good luck!!

Re: ways to decrease spool time... ? (D-SPEED)
In regards to autoxing with a boosted Honda, I have always heard that these two do not make a good combo. Anyone in here with a turbo'd car ever take it autocrossing?
How severe can the damage be from overheating (and how likely is that to happen)? Maybe I'm confused with road racing, but it seems like there would be a lot of wear-and-tear on the car when taken to the autocross course.

never had overheat problems, tires are the most wear and tears it can think of. Once you get the suspension to work with the power that the car is making. You will be hard to beat!!

ya there's no problem autocrossing a boosted honda... make sure you have a good wastegate, a well flowing exhaust (i.e. high flow cat, test pipe, 3" piping) and it should boost very well. when i had turbo on my ls my boost built around 2400 with a t3/t4, and a 3" exhaust.

Hey b18cturbo, I was just wondering who built your motor. I wanted to build up my block but I don't know who to go to in the NY/NJ area.
Thanks
