should i hear spool efore i see boost?
i hear my turbo spooling but the boost is not yet being shown on the guage? my vacuum works well but the boost side is only going to about 2-3psi? it feels like its pulling really well. maybe i am just underestimating what 2-3 good lbs feels like?

What turbo are you using? Are you using a boost controller of any kind? The reason I ask is because you say your only getting 2-3 psi which is low unless you've turned the boost down. Maybe you should check the vaccum lines going to the boost controller and check for leaks too. Other than that, you could be hearing the wastegate either stuck open or a bearing could be going too. I'm using a 14B turbo and I can here it alittle before it boost but when it does boost is where you here it the most. I GUESS IT COULD BE ALOT OF THINGS WRONG. Or maybe nothing is wrong at all. good luck. Post why you're only hitting 2-4 pounds of boost. (wastegate?boost controller?)

Maybe I am ignorant in asking this, but you can only set your lowest boost to whatever the spring (wastegate) is set at.
Correct?
You cant use a boost controller to get you to boost 5psi if you have a 7psi spring?

your exsactly right on the Wastegate ??. That's why I want to know what turbo he's using to hit only 2-3psi. Which leads me to believe that something else is wrong.

Check all the piping connections.. I blew off my piping the second night I had my turbo and you could hear the turbo spooling louder than ever. I only saw about 2 or 3 psi of boost also, until I found a really bad connection in the charge piping. 2 or 3 psi felt good, that was until I was running a full 7.
Bottom line is go check all your piping connections. If you are running a greddy kit you should be seeing 6 or 7 on the boost gauge.

Check your piping and make sure your boost gauge is reading correctly. Maybe your vacuum line is T'd in too many places and the gauge isn't getting an accurate reading.

So its for sure that you have a leak in the system somewhere. but this doesn't sound like the piping because you say you feel pretty good when it boost. That means that it has to be somewhere in the vaccum or falty gauge.

this happen to me and that's what happen to me. the turbo would spool every time i got on the gas. Don't confuse turbo spool with reading boost.
