Default Wastegate Question

Alright so I just got my wastegate and the only one they had at the shop was a .45bar (6.5psi) one. My question is what exactly does the spring pressure do?

Controls how much boost the wastegate will hold before it opens. Stiffer springs can hold more boost. With the spring you have now, you won't be able to boost over 6.5 psi.

So if I got a 1 bar spring I'd only be able to boost up to 14.5psi?

If you got a 1bar spring the LOWEST you can boost is 1bar.

Ok so what you two just said contradicted each other.

"Controls how much boost the wastegate will hold before it opens. Stiffer springs can hold more boost. With the spring you have now, you won't be able to boost over 6.5 psi." -Ricey McRicerton

"If you got a 1bar spring the LOWEST you can boost is 1bar." -ben@importparts.com

So from what Ben is saying is that if I get a 1 bar spring I mininum I can boost is 1 bar. But from what Ricey is saying the maximum I can boost is 1 bar. So Which one is it?

Maybe I'm wrong (I run on an internal wastegate) but Ben knows his stuff, so talk to him. I always thought that the 1 bar spring would only hold to like 14.7 psi.

They're both right. A 6.5psi spring means you should only be able to boost 6.5 psi. No more, no less. Of course this doesn't take into account boost controllers which would allow you to boost higher which is why ben said the lowest you can boost is 1 bar if you had a 1 bar spring.

ie, on my Tial with the 6.5 psi spring, I see 6.5 psi on my setup no more, no less. But if I had a boost controller, I could go to say 12 psi. But I would never be able to go below 6.5 psi. Without the boost controller, I couldn't go over 6.5 psi.

Wait... but the Tials are adjustable too, right? You shouldnt be fixed at 6.5psi.
On my Deltagate, it has a 6 lb spring meaning the minimum I can boost is 6 psi. You can adjust it to like 20 lbs (havent taken it that high).

There are some contradicting posts here.

The only adjustable wastegate I know of is the Deltagate.

Tials aren't adjustable. I don't think the spring is swappable. One Deltagates and Racegates, you can swap out springs to adjust boost.

I thought tial wastegates were swapable? Doesn't matter to me I'm an internally gated fella lol But I thought I read somewhere that you can swap springs in the tial.

You can change out springs in Tial wastegates.
