I have been reading around on the net for a while trying to find an ok way to "street tune" my vafc to increase fuel so that I can be semi safe driving around town on 8-10psi untill i can purchase hondata and get to the dyno. The Term I've seen being used is " Vafc Hack " and with the Vafc people have seem to tune there setups this way untill they can afford or get to the dyno for a Real tune.
I see that people have done this before, Im just not understanding what settings to go into to increase fuel. Has anyone done this before or know how? Thanks for the help..
Setup:
B16a block
ARP head studs
Gsr Head
Stock Injectors
billet fuel rail
Skunk2 I/M
Hondata I/M gasket
GSR Cams
Ram Horn Manifold
T3 Airresearch .42 .48 Internal gated
3in D/p
FMIC and 2in hard pipes
Management, VAFC I

it can work...... but for the amount you could sell the vafc for you could get your ecu chipped and running a basemap untill you could afford a tune, not only will it be cheaper in the long run, but it will be much safer as im sure you dont have a wideband to even attempt a tune with the vafc

lol actually I do have a Wide Band, Im just missing two other things.
1. o2 bung in the down pipe
2. A gauge pod
Lol my boost gauge is ghetto rigged to my D side vent till I can find a pod some where lol.
All Im looking for is some one that knows what settings would make the the ecu add more fuel to compensate for the boost

I really wish you would just wait and tune it properly or get it tuned by a tuner.
but its your car and wallet so here you go...

Thanks for the advice and I will take it tastfully unlike most.
My question is still this though.
In all of these "hack reports" is say to put the fuel in the negitve to lean it out. I want to Inrich mine. Would this mean that I would have to put it in the + side to add fuel?

Man, I remember years ago running my b16 turbo setup on the "hack" it worked but does not compare to a real engine management. If you must though you are going to at least need larger injectors, fmu and map sensor defusor. good luck

Well it boost fine till about 7psi or 6k rpms. This is where I think Im going to just leave it till I get the hondata. Any thing over those numbers and it starts poping like as if its missfiring. But if I dont put my foot in itm it's fine, So I think this is were Im going to just leave it till I get the better management. I have a DSM friend of mine that is going to look for some Blue Tops for me and I have a resitor box from an OBD0 B16. So untill then i guess, Thanks for your help everyone. I will update as soon as i get the rest
Put the Vtec Vales at -40 across the board, for this hack to work as intended you NEED 450cc injectors. nothing else will work well other than a Real management and any size injector. Tune it +- from the starting point of -40. What this does is lean out the largers injectors therby shifting the entire Map down a few ijnector pulses making it run normal on larger injectors and giving your map sensor enough room for max 11 psi. I did my setups like this all the time and never had issues other than retarded timing maps since the shift also skews the timing maps....
In short if its all you have right now follow these directions and you'll be fine until you get to a tunor or gaydata

Update:
Well yesterday I made a post about the vafc hack, And with all the help on here plus with the help a google lol I managed to get my car to boost till 7psi fine with the stock injectors. Anything over 7psi and that car would start to pop real bad, Alot of you told me that for this to work I would need larger injectors. Well I made some calls last night and I managed to pick up a set of 450cc blue tops.
So this is were I start today, 450 blue tops + Vafc. I also have some of the self FMU but I think all that is going to be used for is a paper weight lol. As soon as I get the 450's installed I'll update some more.

well now that you have 450's i would sell the vafc and get a chipped ecu from a reputable tuner such as j-k-tuning.com xenocron.com or any reputable place that chips ecu's with basemaps for a setup like yours

Thanks for you honest and kindly answers lol. Alot better then the other forums.
I am going to get started on the resistor box and injectors on monday. Untill then it will sit. As of right now I have the vafc unhooked accept for the tach, (the way its always been) and will hopefully have some sort of better management by next week as well.
I will update this as I go and will record the whole thing as so other can learn from my mistakes and success, So untill monday.. Be easy all
