Default unplug pcv or remove pcv altogether?

i just finished a shitton of reading on this and i have one last question..

I am going to plug the pcv intake manifold port and just run an open loop.

My question is will the crankcase vent better with the pcv valve still intact or would it be better to remove it altogether.

thanks, sorry to beat a dead horse

If you do as you said, get rid of the pcv completely and run that line where it used to be to a can or to the ground. What I did was just hollowed the pcv to still use it as a connection to the manifold.

yeah but thatmeans your setup is sucking blowby gas into the intake manifold and into your cylinders

not that its that bad but i am trying to get it out of the system completely. i believe what your running is still a closed loop

i have the pcv blocked off and the manifold blocked off. the valve cover breather is vented to atmosphere with a tube to the ground...not ideal but i think it will work till i get the catch can set up

so your running fine keeping the valve in there just not recirculating it into the intake manifold?

i was just confused to if the pcv valve will be open if there is no vacuum

Scavanging a vacum off of something such as the intake vents better than just having it open. Some drag cars run a (or multiple) ss lines off the valve cover to the exhaust to scavenge a stronger vacum.

yeah i know about slashcutting- thats what ur talking about

i wouldnt want to hook it up to the intake tho cause then you get crap over the intake system, and no oil catch can can catch everything

im just gonna keep it hooked up for now- it cant be that bad

The oil doesnt really hurt anything, unless you want the inside of your IM to look blingin all the time. It's not like a shitload of oil really comes out. I would recomend the exhaust scavange, or running a catch can inline with your intake(a baffled catch can with some sort of element like steel wool catches just about everything).

Oil into the combustion chambers lowers the effective octane rating and can cause detonation.

thats my biggest fear- i think ill just unplug it from the im and cap the im, if i had detonation from THAT i would be so pissed cause its such a easy thing to avoid

muckman u comin to the rochester meet?
