Uberdata vs Hondata
Ive went to the uberdata site and tried downloading and opening some of the files and it just doesnt want to work correctly...does anybody know why that would be? Not wanting to thread jack but i fig. this would be a good place to ask to see if there were any special ways to open the file...been tryin for a few days but like i stated..just doesnt want to open .....

you're not trying to import first right? you should be able to go File -> Open, select a .bin in the uberdata directory, and then import if need be.

BTW for all the Auto owners out there, I'm running my 95 auto EX daily driver on uberdata while my B18C1 from my red civic DX is being built
I know that the question had been raised before about autos running uberdata

ghetto fabulous.. bitches.

remember that uberdata ONLY OPENS P72 and P75 bins (aka StockGSR and StockLS). Which is what people with this problem generally forget.

You plug it in, set the boost, and forget about it. Just like all stock cars work with the same ecu, all aftermarket turbo'd ones do. It's really an amazing thing.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
this really wont work with a Honda ecu b/c it uses a MAP sensor. Nissans use a MAFS, which measures air flow, and compensates fuel vs airflow. The programming is different than MAP, where you never know exactly how much air the motor is injesting, only pressure. With MAF tuning, for the most part, you can specify a/f in the programming.

Yeah. I hear you. I guess its kind of a pride thing. I felt so good about myself after tuning my own car and chipping my own ECU. People are always impressed when I tell them I chipped my ECU. I like to brag about it a little.
And plus its much more fun this way. I love DIY stuff.

I had a Hondata and I was really happy with how easy the software was to use. I played around with the uberdata software and it has enough features to get things going. The interface is straightforward and there is plenty of support. I still feel that hondata is superior due to the fact it does have some helpful feature. These features help be able to tune the car a lil easier and faster. When the uberdata guys have more time on there hands I really feel that uberdata will come to the point where it will just be as easy to use and have the same amount of features if not more. The uberdata software is the best bang for the buck and it has come a long way.

WOW! That is a hell of a statement! Just curious but why would you sell a system that has vastly more capability for one with lesser capability???

what do you define capability as? you could make the same numbers with either system, idle the car with either system, tune a/f and timing with either system...Do be honest Uberdata offers alot of options that most people running hondata s100b's do not have (one of the reasons i switched). AEM is overkill for a street car IMO.

I'd have to disagree that the AEM is overkill for a street car. IMO the Hondata/Uberdata are both incredible systems, and they are about perfect for what I need. However for someone with a more advanced setup that may want features like, speed determined boost, and dataloging (yes I know that is about to be addressed, and already has on the Hondata) or the traction control feature, and the EMS is able to support that. I'm just wondering why someone who already spent the money for the EMS would consider selling it? Just my $.02.
EDIT: Nice #'s for the Del Sol

I have really enjoyed this post becuase I think it has been pretty fair both ways and everyone seems to have their own preference. I think what is important though is that Hondata is not really concerned with trying to compete with Uberdata at this point.
They are so focused on the K-Series right now that I really don't think that they are too concerned that there is a product out there that does the exact same thing with OBD-I that has 90% of the features that can be had for free. In any other industry a company would have serious reason to be worry if there was a comparable product being offered for free, but in the case of Hondata, they will continue to thrive and advance because they <U>are not</U> tied down to one product.
Just my .02

Im aware of the options that AEM offers, my friend runs it on his supra and it is great for that. However i would say he is only using maybe 50% of the options AEM offers. he has had problems with the speed determined boost and a few of the other options. I do like AEM (im actually considering it for my M3 when the plug and play kit is released). I think uberdata has tremendous potential and a great platform for people to learn on. (btw im pretty sure the car that won the sportfwd class @ battle of the imports in orlando was running uberdata
)

Exactly. What good is a company without a good R&D department, to move the company forward? There will always be people running OBD-1 Honda systems, but Hondata is striving to stay on the forefront of tunable Honda ECU's. The K-Series equipped cars have so much potential, and with the k-series being Honda's new golden child, Hondata recognizes that people desire this [it's the new hot commodity] and they would be idiotic to not persue offering a highly tunable version of this ECU. Hell, the fact that it has USB connections instead of RS232 connections is enticing for me.
With all that said, I still am going to be using the Hondata S200B on my Turbo LS.

$$$$$$$$$$$$ but im obd2 and from the looks of things it wouldnt save me all that much to "downgrade"
it does have tonnes of features ill never use .... but anyways..ill probably keep it since converting to obd1 adds more money to the "cheap" uberdata solution
