Default turbo Stock Engine?

Well when it comes to money ive pretty much ruled out engine swap becuase im currently still in college and im broke as hell but i think i can manage to build my own turbo kit over winter by buying parts here and there. My question is do you fellas think that my engine can take a T25 turbo yadda yadda. I've been told i wont really have to upgrade any interals im just looking for about 180-200 on the ground. Do you think i will have to upgrade internals? I'm not looking for monster horsepower (don't want a burnout machine) just looking for a little more than I/E/H.

EDIT: DUH my engine is a Dz16y8 i think thats how it is (95 civ ex)

I think the turbo might be too extreme imo you might want to check with the guys in the boost forum if there is one here.

I think the bolt on greddy kit would get you what you want, whats sad is with a dohc motor you will get the same amt of h/p lol.

it really depends on your budget...i think the best things to gain HP from is minor mods that you can make yourself..or not spending alot and is proven to work..

a drop in k&n filter, blue filter, green filter.. they do the same thing...maybe you can find yourself a metal tube so you can mount a cone filter..

ground wires.. they work i dont care what people say.. i mean whats 5 to 10 bucks
its prolly the best amount of increase in HP for the money 1hp per 5 dollars LOL

well you get my point start out with the small stuff...spend some time searching with the archived checked.. and you will find alot of usefull info

there are alot of single cam parts that have great deals in the classified... you rpoly can get intake headder exhaust for 75% under the retail price..

Yes, you can run a turbo on stock internals, lots of people do it. I just wouldn't recomend more than 7psi on a daily basis or it will shorten the life of your engine. You could increase the life of your engine by getting your car tuned, this will also give you more h.p., and upgrading your fuel system is a must

thanks...ive talked to some of my "turbo buddies"...they said that i should be fine and ive seen some people with hondas on other sites that have turbo's with like 186 thousand miles on their cars and not upgrading any internals. The reason i want to do my own turbo set up instead of the greddy i can get it for half the price of greddy kits.

Yeah, if you know enough about turbo systems or are willing to learn, build your own kit!

That way you can get what you want and don't have to buy stuff you don't...

About your goals, 200hp might be too much to ask from a T25 if you want to keep the boost low, I would think you would have to boost 9 or more pounds to make 200hp with a T25...

Anyways, you should be able to build a better kit than the Greddy for a lower price if you study up and do some shopping around...

GREDDY DRAG I like external wastegates, once you've paid off the turbo kit it's time to upgrade and tune. but thats my opinion.

I just plan on pushing about 6-9 pounds of boost and yes thats why i want to do my own becuase its cheeper and i can buy what i want. Back in the days when i first got my car i wanted to do a swap and then i could always turbo that but then i got to thinking my car would a damn burnout machine and just turboing the stock engine it would be a fair amount of hp with out having to much just faster than the average ricer. Thats all i need.
