Default Turbo size question...

I have this Garrett/AiResearch turbo laying around with a fresh rebuild and was wondering if I could put it to use... motor is a B18A1, nothing special, stock motor more or less... I assume i will have to put a much smaller turbine housing on it but...

Compressor:
"AiResearch TO4" CMI-5
2.75" intake
2" outlet
50mm Inducer
70mm Exducer

Turbine:
3" V-band exhaust
64mm Inducer
73mm Exducer
flange holes (center to center) are 3.25" and 2.75"
actual open area of the turbine housing is 70mm X 50mm

that turbine wheel is too large for the b18a. A housing won't do anything to help your situation. You need to have the turbine wheel switched out to a smaller size to be even remotely effective.

OK... I will just buy a different one in that case...

I am wanting to make around 300WHP, any suggestions on a turbo that isn't going to cost me an arm and leg? Like could i use a B16G from a dsm or something like that? I have been lookign on ebay (NOT at those SSAC turbos and crap but at used garrets, holset, T25, 16G etc...) but i am not sure what size i should be looking for.

No need for a Big16G. You're not a DSM, so don't treat it like one. Question that you gotta ask is whether or not you ever plan on using a VTEC head with the car, or just staying with the B18A. You can stay simple w/ the B18A and use a T3/T04E 50 trim in a .63A/R. I've been turbocharging these setups for over 10 years. The only other combination would be a GT3251 journal bearing, which is about 200 bucks more than the 50 trim, but has an even broader power and torqueband. Otherwise the 50 trim is a good choice. In this case Garrett is your best choice for the dollar. leave ebay alone here, ok? They are found for about 600 bucks or slightly less.
