Turbo setup on B16+B20B engine, need advise please!
One of my friend is about to setup a B series combo, but his engine is B16 valve + B20B bottom with the compression of 210. The question is what would be a good setup for this type of engine with this compression? Does it neccessary to reduce to compression and at 5 psi is good enough for the boost?
I'm not really sure if B20 bottom can hold any higher than 5 psi of boost, but let hear it from you
thanks in advance

Yes, b20 sleeves are weak.
Can you boost them? Yes you can but they are prone to a higher failure rate then a normal bseries sleeve.
I have tuned several b20 setups that are still running to date.
One of them is a strait b20 and the snot beat out of it and is making 260 whp.
Another was a stock b20 with a jrsc setup that is still going with no issues.
Both of these setups have been going for over 1 year.
If you don't taking a risk, boost the stock motor.
With a good tune it should last you some time.

One of the biggest reasons n00bs go back to a simple NA setup, or go to some other car with a v6 or factory turbo, is because they take some risks in their setup, blow it up, then don't have the money to fix it & do it right.
If your friend has more than enough money to buy a new b-series shortblock AND resurface the head, by all means, tell him to 300whp or bust. Otherwise, its by far safer to wait a bit and spend a few hundred on a block now, then selling the b20b block to someone wanting to go with a 2.0L stock NA setup.
