Default Turbo problems, Help me out??

I'm running a NEW drag turbo kit(t3/t4) and just got it running with the VAFC hack and RC 440ccs.
My hacks settings are:
1k -40
2k -38
3k-4k -36
5k-9k -35
My fuel pressure at idle is around 39 psi with hose on.

My problem is that when I hit about 4500-5000, I hit max boost(8-9 psi) and the car just seems to stop or accelerate slower than stock?? My rpms seem to climb at a slower rate as well. The car will also jerk, like its running really rich even though my A/F doesn't say its very rich. When I start out in first gear and the beginning of everygear and hit it, it awesome but when it reaches around 5k, **** starts happening. I don't hear any pinging or anything wrong.

I'm suspecting the problem could be from oil return line because it barely has a slope to it, and it makes sense that maybe at higher RPM more oil is flowing which causes it to jam up and stop the turbo from spooling.?.?.?.?.?. but the boost gauge reads a consistent 8 psi??? The car also does not smoke at idle though.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?? All help is much appreciated. Thanks

Pic of oil return.....

sounds like tegasauru's car used to when he had the hack. have you done a compression test on your motor at all? also your oil seals would go on your turbo if it was that bad.

most of my setup is in my sig. My turbo was just rebuilt and my engine was rebuilt about a year ago.
My compression is like 195 180 200 205.
Also, my car was running great before I installed the turbo and had no such problems.

its EXACTLY what happened to my car oh well... maybe i'll have a better boost experience this winter

If you find out what was causing your 5k and beyond problems, please let me know or post it in here, because i'd liek to make sure it doesn't happen with my setup agian.

wait, what happened to your car?? I just noticed that my headgasket is now leaking, which is making my compression a little off. But that shouldn't be causing this problem. Anyone have any suggestions/things to try??? I have a EGT gauge and a A/F gauge... Could I be running out of fuel or too much?

could be either one. sounds overly simple, but i had a similar problem when i was using crappy spark plugs. went to some nice ngk r's and it runs fine now.

OK, Im still having problems so I decided to play around with the VAFC. To see what happens I set my fuel from 3k-8k to -15. I'm confused though because I thought if you went higher than -35 you would get a CEL. When I had it at -15 I didn't get a CEL and it actually ran a little better.

At partial throttle the car would actually accelerate quite fast and hardly chop. I am also able to rev up to 8k, no prob. Also, at partial throttle my boost gauge would be around 5psi.

At full throttle the car would be at about 8-10 psi and would run/accelerate decent until I hit about 4.5K. Then It would start to hicup and would very very slowly accelerate/rev around 5k.

I very confused on WTF is going on with the car. When my correction was at -35 my A/F gauge read rich and still at -15 it reads rich but it seems to be running smoother...???

Can anyone help me out with my settings??
I set my sensor In/out to 06
My TH- Percentage IN/Out are at 72%/73%

It seems that I was way lean at the beginning and now I still might be pretty lean because at 8psi boost it cuts off but runs strong at 5psi even though it not at full throttle.

Sorry for telling you guys my life story but any help is appreciated and if I could I would get this Fu*ker tuned but I can't find a shop in my area.

timing maybe???
vafc advances the ish outta it then figure 9psi should be about 2 degrees more retarded than stock..

could be that or ignitor. causes a putter at about that range kinda like ur hitting a rev limit and then bounces all over the place.

How are your plug?
You know that with a turbo you should run colder plug at a smaler gape(don't remember how much) and retard the ignition a little to?

The plug could be your problem, chek and replace if your not sure.

And you must know that A/F meter is far away of a good tuning device, it'll tell you if something is wrong but not more than that. While runing on boost your gage should tell you prety rich most of the time if you are tuned well.

stock plugs for under 10 psi gapped at .30.
but most of the people around here recomend colder plugs.

and check the ignition.
and check if you retard the ignition enough or to much.

Sounds like you have a spark plug problem, my friends car did the same thing until he changed the plugs. Either that, or timing.

ok well, I'm using a msd BTM with it set at 2 degrees retard per pound. My ignition is all upgraded with msd stuff including wires, cap and blaster 3. I also haven't heard any pinging but again i have never heard it before.
I'm using bosch platinums gapped at .030.

My car was running perfect at full throttle before I went to boost.

Can anyone with a boosted GSR or similiar share their vafc hack settings? Including TH-Point and whatever needs to be changed?

Thanks again.

2 degrees retarded per # is overkill.

also at -15% you SHOULD Be throwing a code. That is unless you are boosting about 3psi~ .

Does my throttle % have anything to do with it?? Stock settings is 10% low and 50% high, I believe. When I followed the instructions at the http://www.thedropshop.tv/vafc.htm it told me to set the th-point to 72%/73% for low/high. what are the right settings i should be using??
