Default Idling issue with the hack.

Just got done working on a CRX with a t3/t4 setup running the hack. Car hasn't idled for more than 1 minute before we figured out there was a slight oil leak. The entire time it was idling however it was at like 2500 rpms or so.. idled fine before the turbo install. Has anyone else run into this? Car has only been sitting for around 3 weeks.. not too long and it is definitely not cold out.. I guess we'll just mess with the idle screw.. but anyone else run into this? Thanks!

Spike

I set my 1k setting stupidly rich and it idles mint... like -20 for the 1000rpm..

Seems to work well...

i have my hack tuned to -50 @ idle. Idles like stock, almost perfect 750~ rpm's. However i have a skunk2 ecu. Wouldn't -20 be extremely lean?

the lower the settings the richer. for example -20 is richer than -40

Most ppl bog the idle with fuel to keep it from surging. An idle of 2500 rpms, well, the FITV needs a minute or two to warm up before you go chasing a problem... feel free to suspect one though. IMO you need more time with the car running.

Did you get ECU Control working??

XratedSi... ditch that skank2 chip asap. Not only is the ignition way advanced since it is for a NA car, but skank2 does a lovely job of disabling the majority of the ECU self-check routines... if you have a problem with a sensor or ground or such taking a crap, the ECU kicks no codes.

What setting are you running for the 1k RPM fuel range? I had to set my shitty rich to make the car idle, and I get an occasional backfire when taking off from a stoplight or something where it's been idling, but other than that it idles great.

I haven't had a chance to mess with the ECUControl yet J. Davis.. unfortunately we've been trying to turbo this kids b16a crx and ran into nothing but problems.. i keep cursing out that damn Crossmember.. makes everything a bitch.. anyway.. i'll try making it pig rich at an idle and see if that helps.. once we get this oil return leak fixed we'll let it warm up for real..

thanks guys!

I have mine at -15 at 800rpm with dsm 440s. It idles a little rougher than stock but always picks right up, no hesitation on tip in. The motor sounds horrible if I try to lean it out. I haven't really tried any other settings in the last week I have had the hack and turbo running. It seems fine and the O2 reads between .05 and .6volts at idle so kinda lean i guess. I have read that big injectors have a slower response time at low duty cycle so they need a richer signal but produce a good A/F for idle. Everyone on HT says that too rich of a setting, i'm not convinced yet.

The hack is weird. My car liked -40% for idle. Any difference and it was crap. Some cars like -50% some cars like -20% at idle.

Strange!

on a sohc civic ex motor, dsm 450's afc hack, at -50 at idle, the afr via my wideband read 14.7.

most of you guys are probably running pretty damn rich at idle

does A/F at idle really matter? After reading this post I got mine leaned out a little, it's at -22 now. seems a little smoother. -35 sounds like its gonna give up on me...at idle my O2 voltage is about .6 wich should be pretty good, right? Would it be better to reset the ECU after making a change like this to make the long term map better or will the ECU fix its self?

a lil OT but it still regards the hack.

setting the hi/lo on the afc .... is it better to have it at 49%/50% or 98%/99% or does it not even matter?
